Announcing webrtcforthecurious.com - Go beyond the APIs. A WebRTC book that teaches how all the protocols work in depth, not just a tour of the APIs Get the full details of ICE, SCTP, DTLS, SRTP, and how they work together

SIP calling is now fully working with my @Pion based agent server, backed by local Asterisk. Inbound ✅ Outbound ✅ Tool calls ✅ Now I’m curious — which cloud provider should I add first?

@jasonshen_ Excited to see you back in the space! Would love to explore making ‘Voice AI’ a better experience in Pion natively.

Built a light weight real-time AI voice agent with WebRTC + Go (@_pion ) + Next.js 🎙️ • Speak in browser → STT → OpenAI GPT → TTS → hear the reply • Room-based, low-latency, open source • Docker Compose ready • opensource github.com/jason-shen/pio…

@StephWolski @VcWabKDHN9OVdYq @asimovinc Did DataChannels perform worse for you? I have seen people send data via RTP also. Have to implement ARQ/FEC yourself though. SCTP has always done well for me. But I would love to hear your experience. Anything I could do to make WebRTC better

@StephWolski @asimovinc Why do you prefer SRT? Is it protocol itself, the software etc… Not familiar with sending a 3D scene. I just like hearing what others are doing/getting out of my bubble

Imho SRT is the best off-the-shelf option for getting video and audio to other places reliably under varying network conditions (like cell). I do autonomous social interaction not tele-op, but my guess is that the best is to send a 3D scene reconstruction to VR rather than video. So in a web stack I think some sort of WebTransport+WebXR solution is the way to go

@asimovinc Fantastic! Is that the LiveKit meet UI? I’d recommend getting off LiveKit - WebRTC (especially bounced via a SFU) is just a recipe for sadness for robots.

Thanks for sharing it :) Any feedback/ideas to make it better? I want to make an interactive Offer/Answer analyzer I think that would help a lot with understanding how WebRTC works. Give me a good excuse to build a SPA with Go/WASM something I have wanted to do.

@roman01la That’s cool! What’s the lowest you have gotten with each? I had so much fun with github.com/bitwhip/bitwhip Getting out of the browser/being able to control latency more was so nice

Pushing browser tech further. Now 100ms glass to glass over UDP, skipping WebRTC. This time using Isolated Web Apps in Chrome, which is more like privileged installable web app, with Direct Sockets API available developer.chrome.com/docs/iwa/direc…

@daimoc42 Each company has their own SFU. You authenticate with that/is customized for your business. Things like in room conference hardware Two employees across companies meet via SFU bridging.

@_pion What could be the real purpose of interconnecting heterogeneous SFU ? I don't see the use case.

France is switching from Nonfree software to Pion (LiveKit)[0] I hope this starts new interest/investment in the video-conferencing space. It's been quiet for a while now. [0] thetimes.com/business/techn…

Different companies/countries all connecting! I would love to try and do it with WHIP/WHEP. Then you get the same code paths for ffmpeg/OBS/Robots makes it all more robust. Anyway exciting times :)

I want to put a SFU inside a router. Something minimal like Galene [1]. [1] galene.org Then users wouldn't have to depend on a 3rd party at all! SFU interoperability is next goal. Imagine a call spanned multiple LiveKit/Jitsi/Janus/Mediasoup instances.

Pion TURN v5.0.0 is available! * mTLS Clients * TCP Relays (only clients supported before) * IPv6 * Quotas The BEST part about the release is the people working on it. Some of the best/fastest work I have seen in a long time from Adriano, Gabor and Jo.
