Dream big, work harder. Often an athlete falls out of love w/ their sport in part because they fantasized the dream without considering that every level of advancement requires real work & sacrifice. Understand that the calling on your life will sometimes feel like a burden.

The athlete who’s giving everything they’ve got lives with a paranoia that they aren’t doing enough or that they will be passed up; the unseen opponent or potential unrealized. So, if you think you’re doing enough, chances are you aren’t.

Self assessment: how are you positively impacting the room? As coaches, it is our role & responsibility to establish the culture & energy of the room. It is important to also understand, though, that we are human so we value being in rooms where the energy is reciprocated.

WHY do you do it? And what are you willing to sacrifice? Because if you only want to give it when it’s convenient, it doesn’t mean enough. You’ve gotta hold yourself to a higher standard than the one placed on you by others.

Performance Coach 🤝 Sport Coach. It takes a village to raise an athlete much like it does a child. Our role as performance coaches is to elevate the raw skills and qualities of an athlete while the sport coach provides game oriented opportunities for expression of those skills.

It’s fun to go from a lower level team to a higher level team. It’s fun to earn more trust & responsibility from your coach. It’s fun to get recognized by your peers and coaches. This is all a product of consistent work. Training won’t always be fun but what’s fun is progress.
