#tbt The left picture was how I used to dress to school when I attended London South Bank University. Why? Let me tell you a story. Please share🙏 I was juggling work and studying Civil Engineering. On lecture day,I will go to work first for a few hours and rush down to university for lectures. I went back to university as an undergraduate at 30, and I was one of the oldest in my class. Most of my classmates were in their 20s funded by apprenticeship, etc. I was funding myself. It is literally my last chance. I had been a 3 time drop out before then and suffered a severe mental health crisis. Sometimes, I will come to school first, tell them I will be late at work, or vice versa. There was one test that we did. We had to pour concrete on site that day. If I miss the concrete pour, the foreman will sack me. I did the concrete pour and dash via public transport to class. When I got in, the exam was almost completed. The examiner allowed me. I had forgotten everything I read due to the stress. I just did my bit. This thing about life is that when the certificate comes out, nobody knows/cares what it took to get it, all they want to see is pass or fail. This is why you must not compare your journey or seek external validation. Keep doing your best. I had zero social life then cos I knew this course would help my life, so it was work,school, and sleep. I still had to send some money home as an African. Despite all the stress, I did very well. Delay gratification is our playbook. You may not have support now, please keep going, do all the free courses you can do. When your helper comes, let them meet you ready. I am rooting for you.
