However, where the Land in question is transferred to members of the said family who are not beneficiary to the assets, I will advise you to stick with "Deed of Gift"

A Defendant was meant to open his defence in a matter. He did not for about 6 adjournments. His counsel won't turn up in court, and there are no words at all. Sometimes, we would get to court and see his adjournment later on the same day. The court was indulging them. The last that he did, he wasn't in court, and he wrote a letter that his client underwent surgery. His client didn't. We have details of his activities on that day. He suggested 3 dates in his letter. We objected, but the court asked us to still allow him. We settled for one of the dates he suggested. On the said date, he was not in court. He was foreclosed and matter adjournment for adoption of addresses. He filed no address. We served him ours, and he replied with a motion to set aside the foreclosure order on the basis of fair hearing. He argued that he was not served the hearing notice for hearing on the day that he suggested by his adjournment letter! A date that he gave us and the court. We opposed the application, and he boasted to our colleague who went to court that if the application is refused, he would appeal. I've also promised myself that if he appeals, we will file a motion for him to be referred to the LPDC by the court of appeal. At least 10 adjournments have been at his instance. None at ours. Mostly due to his unexplained absence in court or baseless adjournment letters. In fact, he was foreclosed from cross-examining our witness after repeated absence. He had to bring her back with a motion. Shameful practice.

A High Court judge of minimum 10 year’s PQE held that the estate of a deceased person was not liable for unpaid debt. The Court of Appeal upturned it and the lawyers to the estate too now appealed to the Supreme Court. We’re just so terrible tbh.

How I felt when my 2-year-old Niece, woke me up at 2am to sing with her. I almost shed tears while singing. Then I dozed off. She inserted her finger in my eye to lift my eyelids to wake me up. Then her mum texted me from the next room to ensure she doesn't come to her room, oh. I should hold her tight. We both sang for about 2 hours before she dozed off. Toddlers will try your emotional intelligence.

Most annoying part. It’s now like you worked for the government because you didn’t sit 2hrs with your lawyer to put things in order.

Not so similar to this is that, a lot of deceased estates are in the hands of some administrators in the State Government and those ones are making monthly revenue from them cause the demise did not write a will nor have a lawyer to document their assets.

I speak for myself when I say this: it is an act of gross incompetence to not inform lawyers prior to them coming to court that you will not be sitting. Imagine leaving someone who had to come all the way from Ikeja to Ajah for a matter! Who's fault is this: Registrar or Mi Lord?
