@madelyndwsn reminds me of Henri Bergson: "In this point is something simple, infinitely simple, so extraordinarily simple that the philosopher has never succeeded in saying it. And that is why he went on talking all his life." We're just elaborating that unspeakable, unconscious impulse...

Day after day, I know where my thesis is going vis-à-vis a dissertation, but I also know I have to write the damn thing to graduate, even though I believe it'll be better done with more reams of paper, or just more megabytes on a docx or PDF file

@_richiegeorge surely you cannot think that misogyny, though--of which inceldom is a vehicle--was a minority position. to my mind, it exposes a continuity--a tradition to be specific. which is more troubling, more corrosive

@nonchalantly_ Being an incel was a very, very minority position. only got popularized (or maybe, not even popularized, but exposed) during the 2010s massacres. it does expose a transformation in social reproduction

@_richiegeorge what does it mean to live in a society where the dumb incel slang was never slang but carried an ordinary conceptual weight that most people found basically agreeable and reflective of the world at large

Referring to the largest mass political mobilisation of Black people as merely serving the interests of the Black bourgeoisie is pretty disingenuous. It patronises the majority of Black working class members who saw value in Garveyism, whatever we might think of it now.

Excited to announce I have a book coming out co-published by @orbooks and @thenation! The book explores the rapid rise and fall of Marcus Garvey's movement, and how A. Philip Randolph's labor and civil rights-based organizing reshaped American politics. orbooks.com/catalog/agains…

Didn’t expect my scholarly vendetta towards a theory of responsive, restorative justice via the political to lead me to zeroing in so hard on insurance, accounting, and security logic… I’ve circled all the way back to the evil I was tryna run from!
