FUEL PRICES: Proposal on the reduction of Fuel Prices. We have already written to Parliament with the intention to amend the VAT act and RMLF. Below are the proposed measures to ease prices. Reduce the importers and distributors margin by Ksh 4. Provision of an additional subsidy Ksh 5 Billion for diesel from the Fuel Stabilization Fund. With a monthly consumption of 202 Million liters – Ksh 24.75 per liter. Reduce VAT by 8% and make the products exempt. Reduce Ksh 7 Fuel levy that was added in 2024. The measures will reduce price of Super Petro to Ksh 187.38 and Diesel to Ksh 189.16. All these proposals are intermediary measures for short and near medium term. We are African and Africa is our Business..

@EPRAKenya has released its Press Release for the period 15th May to 14th June 2026 pursuant to Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act, 2019. Super Petrol goes up by Ksh.16.65 and Diesel by Ksh.46.29 per litre. EPRA states that the landed cost of Diesel surged by 20.32% which means it has increased from US$1,073.82 to US$1,291.98 per cubic metre. The Government has deployed Ksh.5 Billion from the Petroleum Development Levy Fund, a fund built from levies Kenyans already pay at the pump, to cushion Diesel and Kerosene. That cushion is clearly not enough. Of concern is that VAT on petroleum has now been pegged at 8% pursuant to Legal Notice No.70 of 15th April 2026, down from 16%. That reduction should have meaningfully softened these prices. Yet here we are. Two consecutive brutal cycles. Kenyans have a right under Article 35 of the Constitution to interrogate every line of this document. The PDL Fund is public money. Its deployment must be transparent and accountable. We will keep watching.

FUEL PRICES: Practical proposals on how to deal with the Fuel Prices in Kenya. With a monthly consumption of approximately 400 Million litres, the government must reduce pump prices by at least the following amount. The proposal below is not a favour but asking the government to reinstate taxes and levies before they were added by this regime in 2023 (VAT) and Fuel Levy (2024). Reduce Ksh 7 from the fuel levy that was added in 2024. Reduce VAT by an additional 5 % immediately, which will be approximately Ksh 8 per litre. Grant an additional 5 Bn in subsidies from the Fuel Stabilisation Fund, which will be approximately Ksh 12 Per Litre. The fund already has more than the required amount and in excess of Ksh 20Bn. This should translate to a reduction by Ksh 7 8 12 = Ksh 27. This is not too much to ask. Kenyans are simply demanding the reduction of Levies and taxes to the level they were before 2023. We are African and Africa is our Business..

STATEMENT ON THE FUEL PRICE HIKE IN KENYA Kenyans have once again been hit with a painful fuel price increase, pushing petrol and diesel beyond KES 200 per litre in major towns. This is not just a number it is a direct attack on the cost of living. While the government blames global oil prices and international conflicts, the truth is that poor policy decisions, excessive taxation, and lack of proper planning have made the situation worse. Let us state the facts: • Taxes and levies still form a significant portion of every litre of fuel Kenyans buy. Even with minor VAT adjustments, the government continues to overburden citizens. • Kenya lacks adequate strategic fuel reserves, leaving the country exposed to global shocks. This is a failure of long-term energy planning. • The Petroleum Development Levy, which was meant to cushion Kenyans, has been inconsistently managed and repeatedly strained. • There have been serious allegations of mismanagement and irregular procurement in the energy sector, raising concerns about transparency and accountability. Fuel affects everything transport, food prices, electricity, and basic goods. When fuel crosses KES 200, the cost of living rises across the board. The ordinary Kenyan the mama mboga, the boda boda rider, the farmer pays the price. This regime cannot continue hiding behind international excuses while failing to implement serious structural reforms at home. As the opposition, we demand: 1.Immediate review and reduction of fuel-related taxes and levies. 2.Full transparency on fuel procurement and use of stabilization funds. 3.A long-term national energy security strategy to shield Kenyans from recurring shocks. 4.Accountability for any official found responsible for mismanagement or exploitation. Leadership is tested in difficult times. This government has failed that test. Kenyans deserve relief. Kenyans deserve honesty. Kenyans deserve better.

Did you know that our fuel prices are heavily taxed, with levies and taxes constituting approximately 45–50% of the pump price, contributing over KSh 82 per litre for super petrol. We are at 207 because of TAXES. -- Reduce Fuel levy -- Reduce VAT #RejectFuelPrices
