@missnekopon @Pyrrhixz Yeah weebcon doesn’t do artist alley well it’s totally sectioned off from the rest of the event, most people go for the VA headliners and the sheer amount of VAs, the con doesnt focus on other aspects as much. the first time I went it took a while to even find artist alley

@Pyrrhixz It was also $400 for an 18+ table with very little traffic compared to a $300 inline main Artist Alley table. Very disappointing.

I hate to be negative about an event, but this is my honest opinion as a first time vendor at #Weebcon Texas. From the event itself to the venue it’s in. Full disclaimer, the attendees were great and so was everyone I met. I love you guys, and it was by far the highlight. Anyway here’s my gripes 1. The process of being accepted Full disclaimer, I am not an artist, but was acting as a proxy for my partner since she already was going to SakuraCon, which is where we both planned to attend originally. Weebcon had initially rejected our application for artist alley, and VERY LAST MINUTE, accepted us to be in their 18+ Ecchi Art Mart. It was so sudden that flights/accommodation had inflated since our initial rejection. Texas has always been kind to us, so we decided to split to take a chance. 2. Con organization The organization for this convention is a mess, and very reminiscent of Weebcon Indy which we attended in 2025. Volunteers didn’t know where things were/what was going on. Upon retrieving my badge, I inquired about possibilities of artist alley tables opening since I overheard the people in front of me securing a waitlist slot. Despite this I was told they were full. Over the course of the weekend, I’d find that people were making their way in somehow, which of course was a little tilting. 3. Security The security of this convention is also alarming as a vendor. There were several instances where, due to vending in the late night market, I needed to make my way out in the early morning hours. The doors to artist alley and vendor hall were never locked, with me leaving at 3:00 AM on one occasion with some of the doors still being left open. There are so many additional things I can add, but for brevity’s sake, I’ll leave it at that. The disorganization of the convention was one thing, but the other major driving factor is the venue it’s housed at The Gaylord Texas Resort has to be, hands down, the worst venue experience I’ve had in my two years of attending conventions. From entitlement by the staff, to the absolutely abysmal quality of the food and their absorbent prices, this place has it all. If you plan to attend Weebcon Texas I highly advise you to look elsewhere for accommodation. I dined with the hotels room service twice, once upon arrival, and once upon departure. Both times, staff insisted I tipped them 10% or more and refused to give me my food until I did so. I am not entitled to give you anything in addition to my meal cost, I don’t pay your wage. The hotels initial cost is also absolutely horrid. It’s a great “wow” factor when you arrive, but the price ain’t worth all the bells and whistles. A classic money sink and trap. Overall, ironically enough, Weebcon Indianapolis and now Weebcon Texas sit as my worst con experiences, and I have no intention of coming back.
