@slk_writes My best recent gig was the @wearejames orchestral tour in Glasgow. The crowd were so enthralled you could hear every note. No phones either. It was fabulous. It had @RealTimBooth totally confused though as the weegie James crowd are usually radge 😂 @yasminesummanx

Reflecting on a great day with @NFUStweets learning about sustainable dairy at @first_milk farm Lochhill in Ayrshire. Pasture fed, focused on soil health, biodiversity & carbon, it was great to hear how this farmer owned co-op is driving impressive change towards net zero. 👏🐄

Interesting that 🇪🇺 Commission is currently assessing the "potential of applying the polluter-pays principle to agricultural emissions & reward farmers for long-term carbon removals”. This includes options to C👣 tax emissions from inputs (fert) or outputs (🥩) & reward C👣 sinks

The @EU_Commission is considering three types of agricultural #EmissionsTrading Systems and numerous ways of including #CarbonRemovals in it. There is currently an open consultation for this initiative, with the goal of of to pricing agricultural emissions and rewarding climate action in the land sector. Policy wonks will see nteresting policy design options on the table for integrating #carbonremovals from the #LULUCF sector. Three agricultural #ETS options are considered: 1) An on-farm ETS covering on-farm GHG emissions 2) An upstream ETS covering GHG emissions associated with the use of feed and inorganic fertiliser 3) A downstream ETS covering GHG emissions associated with farm products processed Next to this, five policy models are considered where #carbonremovals would be linked with each agricultural ETS policy option (above) through: • Full integration • Carbon removal offsets credits • Carbon removal deductions • With the government as an intermediary • Disconnected markets (no link) Link to the consultation: ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runne… Insightful workshop slides on the considered policy options: ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/files… The consultation will run until 28 July, have your say!
