its truly unfortunate but the 4chan “>be me” format is the greatest advancement in comedic storytelling since the invention of the slide show

@untimelysalts I think the format of reaction videos can encourage more active engagement. As Peterson is talking the viewer will be trying to identify where the mistakes are before you pause to explain (admittedly not a difficult task in this case), instead of just passively listening.

I really, genuinely, hate content that is just negatively reacting to other content. And yet the algorithm rewards me for doing it. But it's because all of you are more likely to click on Jordan Peterson sucks video The fault, dear chat, is not in our algos but in ourselves.

Although people speak of nothing but the greatness of Ulysses and Finnegans Wake, it genuinely saddens me how miserably James Joyce died, physically ruined, his most beloved daughter going completely insane, surrounded to the end by the rich socialites he openly despised.

@Grotto_NH @seaviking54 @athenaeumbc It might make more sense to rank individual books of the Bible. This is like having “The Collected Works of William Shakespeare” on the list

@seaviking54 @athenaeumbc If you're going to include the Bible in the list, it has to be #1. All pieces of literature are either derived from it or superseded by it.

The Guardian has just published its "100 best novels of all time" list — these are the top 12. Toni Morrison's Beloved is in 2nd. Dostoevsky does not make the top 25... What do you think?

@Thumetikon The narrator (whoever he is) is too far removed from the story for the events to feel personal. It’s like listening to a museum tour guide describe the events of some historic battle.

I finished Blood Meridian recently. It was good, but not as gruesome as normal nіggеrs make it out to be. In terms of gratuitous violence this book has none; it feels biblical and pure in that sense. There is no act of violence which feels unnecessary.

My greatest musical shame is that I barely venture beyond 60s Dylan, which I’m otherwise totally obsessed with. I need to push the boat out. I need to be brave. I need to properly dig deep into 90s Dylan, 00s Dylan, even plausibly 80s Dylan

@_strawdogs @JJColao @SanSip I imagine Salman Rushdie has read it, as have I, but I think it is a choice calculated to telegraph his self-perceived intellectual superiority, like much he does.

In one of those purposeless but entertaining exercises, the Guardian polled more than 170 novelists, critics, and academics to come up with a list of the best 100 novels of all time. Here's Salman Rushdie's top 10.

@musidorus @JJColao @SanSip You think Salman Rushdie put it at no.1 without having ever read it? That seems highly unlikely to me

@_strawdogs @JJColao @SanSip Because Ulysses was no.1 on the list. Charlatans who claim they love Ulysses should have said Finnegan’s Wake if they’d actually read either. And the same people should have said they love The Waves.

@musidorus @JJColao @SanSip Guy with statue pfp offended by Ulysses? Not exactly breaking new ground. Finnegans Wake is better, but how is that a gotcha question?

@KeithWoodsYT @cyclicalbreaker Principled conservatives like Walsh collected paychecks for a decade while those brave enough to voice transgressive political views were wiped out. Once censorship lightened they continued their lucrative careers by plagiarizing those 10 year old “white identity” talking points.

After Charlottesville, conservatives like Will Chamberlain and Jack Posobiec asked their followers to donate to an SPLC cutout called the Heather Heyer foundation After George Floyd's death, Ben Shapiro pleaded with the left and demanded the book be thrown at Derek Chauvin. Matt Walsh actually demanded the McMichaels family all be executed over the death of Ahmaud Arbery Conservative leadership used to join in on anti-White witch hunts at every possible opportunity so that people who hate them couldn't accuse them of defending racists. They only stopped because their audience became more radicalised after BLM, Rittenhouse, years of black fatigue You might hate Chud the builder's antics, but it's only edge cases like this that actually challenge people. Obviously, as with Chauvin, the McMichaels and Fields, the only principle should be if they actually broke the law or are being railroaded by an anti-White system

@zermatist He honestly hasn’t made anything good in a long time. He use to rely on creating something that was inherently valuable with a message but now he’s sorta reliant on the cult of personality thing. Hes cool but he hasn’t dropped a banger in years.

@exALEXANDRIA @more_amalek When has Kyle Kulinski tried to “court” Nick? Every clip I’ve ever seen of him talking about Nick he’s expressed nothing but contempt. He only seems to like that Nick creates so much infighting within MAGA

In light of all the recent Odyssey news. I think everyone that needlessly trashed this excellent film owes Robert Eggers a huge apology.

@smart_money13 @bizlet7 I agree. The presentation wasn’t bad, but the story itself was fairly one-dimensional. It’s Eggers’ only movie which he didn’t have full creative control over, which is likely why it’s his worst. I don’t think he was satisfied with it himself, from interviews I’ve seen
