Martin Abucha, Minister of Mining, Republic of South Sudan In my intervention, I emphasized that for Somalia, value addition must be anchored in regional integration, regulatory certainty, and infrastructure development. Unlocking our mineral potential requires moving beyond raw exports toward processing, beneficiation, and regional value chains that create jobs and retain wealth within Africa. Stronger coordination across our countries will reduce fragmentation, attract responsible investment, and position Africa as a competitive hub for mineral-based industrialization. #mice2026

Today was a historic and memorable day, as the welcoming ceremony for the oil drilling vessel Cagri Bey, which arrived in the country yesterday, was successfully held at a high level. The event was attended by the country’s top leadership, led by the President, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the Prime Minister, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, ministers, members of parliament, a delegation from our brotherly nation of Türkiye led by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, as well as business leaders and other distinguished guests. The arrival of Cagri Bey represents renewed hope and optimism for the development of Somalia’s natural resources. The reception of this vessel symbolizes ongoing efforts to advance the petroleum sector and to ensure that the country benefits from its resources in an efficient and sustainable manner. It is a step that reflects fruitful cooperation and a long-term vision aimed at economic growth and a brighter future. We hope that this project will mark the beginning of major successes that will lead the country toward prosperity, job creation, and sustainable development. 🇸🇴
