this comes from a fan who sees you beyond the surface, @EtrataShuvee. i hope this time, you find the courage to speak about this matter. clearly and firmly. you are surrounded by people who have long been vocal about injustices (ms. kara and ms. jessica for example) and they admire you for being an intelligent principled woman. i do, too. but duterte’s regime was not “good” because you saw “good” on your end. it was a period marked by systemic corruption, disinformation and the normalization of violence. his war on drugs led to the deaths of more than 12,000 people AND mostly from poor communities. many without due process. entire families were left traumatized, children orphaned. human rights defenders, journalists, and activists were harassed, jailed and even killed for speaking truth to power. yung iba nga hindi na nabalik yung katawan. corruption under his administration was crazy too. it meant billions lost in pandemic funds, overpriced medical supplies while hospitals were collapsing and public officials enriching themselves while ordinary filipinos were struggling to survive. tapos yung issue ngayon sa DPWH connected pa termino niya.

Look at successful movements, they succeeded not just because of ideas, but because they convinced others, even those on the other side, to see their perspective.
