@crystalsssup And it's true! Kimi is the model I reach out to for most of my tasks. Well, except sometimes when it writes some shitty nextjs code (and it pisses me off) but great overall.

@saltyAom You can absolutely cancel a promise while it's running with AbortController, take a look at the gist below. Also the link to the gist: gist.github.com/brianineza01/e…

There should be a way to abort promises in JavaScript There's no way to stop running promises at all? Like, what if the client aborts the request? The function is still running, the database query is still going Wasted resources

@sansjackdev @ChristoPy_ Also doing something custom is also time wasting, the best thing would be to build shadcn-like method for auth.

@sansjackdev @ChristoPy_ Nope it doesn't, try to combine magic link with the organization plugin. Try to make the magic link system invite only, I have like 100 other use case that better-auth sucks at..

@iximiuz Try zed + Claude code, It has been a favorite of mine. Supports file changes review like cursors but zed has better vim support and it's fast and less bloat.

@JustJake I also recently discovered that some apps collect device information and other data through push notifications on IOS.

@JustJake Personally I just disable all/most of notifications in the app except necessary ones that I need like delivery information, messages or related. For social media, I remove the apps completely and use the web version whenever I can.

@pepechuuu @pranaygp That's what I was thinking too, like give the developer the library and they can use it however they would like, @pranaygp , can you help us understand the decision?

@pranaygp Why not export registerStepFunction and let developers choose their preferred way to use workflows instead of only having the directive path?

Nothing more scary than someone publicly analyzing your mostly vibe coded compiler on the internet Glad I passed 🙏

Behind the elegant and seemingly simple looking 'use workflow' and 'use step' directives of the new workflow development kit from @vercel lies a bunch of compiler engineering. I was curious and decided to dive deeper into the open source code. Buckle up and read this post if you are curious too. The workflow development kit(WDK) from Vercel is a new piece of developer infrastructure that let's developers write workflows and durable functions. Durable functions are stateful workflows in a serverless environment. Ordinary functions are stateless: once they finish, their context disappears. But a durable function can be paused (suspended) while waiting for an external event or timer, and later resumed from exactly where it left off with full context preserved. If you are building something that requires maintaining the state, you would typically need to store the state in a database and maintain all the baggage that comes with it. WDK aims to make this part easier.

@devongovett @tannerlinsley While if you have the following: You know 100% it comes from a framework, and you know where to start from to get documentation, context and any other knowledge you need.

@devongovett @tannerlinsley Directives are magic, you don't import them from anywhere, it is just there. For example in the code it will be something like "use cache" const fn = () => "value" Reading the above code you wonder, where is the cache coming from, who's the provider? How does it work?

I'll continue to die on the hill of "magic directives are bad API interfaces". They're not type-safe, they're not extensible, no native runtime control, they're just strings. ... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would rather debate @ directives. Pls rewind history.

@itsohqay @thdxr My question is how long would the deep research take and then the process of piping it into the other llm etc, while you could just reference the docs yourself and just fix it manually since it was a small file.

@itsohqay @thdxr I would say solving this manually or at least the file that was specified, would absolutely be faster than doing all of this process and wasting tokens for a simple task.

we have a crazy file that needs to be migrated from zod v3 to zod v4 i tried several LLMs and none can do it maybe someone can get it to work but it's stuff like this that makes people sound super out of touch when they say LLMs will write 90% of code
