It Would Be Evil for Deltans to Vote Against Tinubu in 2027 Because He’s Our In-Law — Governor Oborevwori Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has urged residents of the state to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing the president’s family ties to Delta State through First Lady Oluremi Tinubu. Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the governor said Tinubu is the only likely presidential candidate with a direct connection to the state. “Among the candidates that emerged, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one that has an affiliation to Delta State,” Oborevwori said. He further described Tinubu as an in-law to the state and argued that it would be wrong for Deltans to vote against him. “The man is an in-law here, and it would be evil to vote against your in-law. It’s a family affair. In the South-South, the people in Delta are saying this is their own. They were deceived before; now they can’t,” he stated. The governor also praised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for strengthening support for the president across the state, particularly among the Itsekiri people. “The First Lady is holding the state strong, and no Itsekiri person will vote against Tinubu. No Urhobo man will because their son is the governor,” he added. Oborevwori also defended the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, saying the federal government’s reforms have improved revenue available to states and enabled them to execute more projects. “The confidence we have is in the people. His reforms and programmes are working very well. Sometimes when I commission projects and tell people we have money, it’s because of the reforms. If they are not working, we won’t get money,” the governor said. His comments come months after First Lady Oluremi Tinubu received the traditional title of Utukpa-Oritse of the Warri Kingdom from the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, during a ceremony held in Warri.

Oyo Schoolchildren K+dnap: I can not do anything about insecurity until I am elected the president in 2027 – Gov. Makinde Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has lamented his inability to fully tackle the growing wave of k+dnappings and abd¥ctions in the state, saying governors lack constitutional control over security agencies despite being referred to as Chief Security Officers. Speaking in Ibadan on Saturday while accepting the presidential nomination of the African People’s Movement (APM), Makinde said the continued captivity of abducted schoolchildren and residents in Oyo remains p@inful. “Today, innocent schoolchildren and citizens abd¥cted by criminals remain in captivity in Oyo State,” he said. “As Governor of Oyo State, I carry the burden of being called the Chief Security Officer of the state, yet lacking constitutional control over the security agencies required to fully address these thr£at.” Makinde argued that governors should not be blamed for insecurity when they do not control the agencies responsible for tackling it. “No governor should bear responsibility without having the authority necessary to act,” he stated. The governor promised to reform Nigeria’s security structure if elected president, insisting that states must have greater powers to respond to security thr£ats. “As President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, by the grace of God, I will work to reform our national security architecture so that states are no longer left helpless in moments of crisis,” he said. He added that decentralisation would be a major part of his security agenda. “The decentralisation necessary for more effective security management will be prioritised. The safety and security of Nigerians will never be treated as a political slogan,” Makinde declared. According to him, Nigerians are demanding leadership that delivers real results. “We cannot continue recycling the same approaches while expecting different outcomes. A new direction must emerge, one founded on competence, courage, accountability and compassion,” Makinde added.
