Exactly. In science, you set the criteria for a successful experiment at the outset. Or, if you are lucky when you DIDN’T meet the criteria, you get a result that changes the nature of the question. The latter is fine…. But the answer still needs to be clear on provision of the raw data and the methodology used to come to the conclusion. It’s frankly not just science. That’s just common sense.

Correct @jamescfox The Roswell debris was not a weather balloon. It was one of the balloons of Project Mogul, a high altitude spy balloon with microphones to listen for possible Soviet upper atmosphere nuclear tests. Unless alien spaceships are made of basla wood & tape...?
