@a96on487 @nateinthewild Shipping for pilot programs isn't a "ready to ship product". The point of pilot programs is to achieve a "ready to ship product". Derp.

'The buyers were also some of the biggest commercial investors - like bmw' - so it did get shipped. 'You're basically just saying your criticisms were from the hip and not based in reality' — I basically saw a funny video and left a comment that the joke is good, but a bit expensive. Basically.

@a96on487 @nateinthewild The ones "sold" thus far were for pilot deployments to get real world testing data. The buyers were also some of the biggest commercial investors - like bmw. You're basically just saying your criticisms were from the hip and not based in reality.

As I said, I criticized the video by the title and product it presented. The current video is bad regardless of the facts you mentioned. 130k for turning packages over with 4hr batteries is bad. If it capable of something else, sure. This video is bad. Regarding 'not shipping it' well they do. They've shipped around 300 of these and are targeting 10000 or something annually, judging by what I've seen in yahoo news.

@a96on487 @nateinthewild This doesn't sound like they are marketing it as a ready to ship product... "HIGH odds of something breaking"

It's being presented as: 'Watch a team of humanoid robots running a full 8-hr shift at human performance levels. This is fully autonomous running Helix-02'. And I'm criticizing this exactly as it being presented. Concept has nothing to do with this person/company, their goal is to make money, they present a product.

@a96on487 @nateinthewild It is being presented as a proof of concept, it's not being marketed as a ready to ship product. You're criticizing something that's not being proposed.

I agree 100%. 'Will be relatively cheap, they can repair themselves, and update their own software as necessary' - just as I said - 'But in the future when there's something useful, I guess.' I'm talking about the present product, not the future. This video is embarrassing. They have a $130k robot flipping packages. The CEO explicitly used phrases like 'human performance,' 'team,' and 'full 8-hour shift' - which is misleading. He presented this as a complete product and attracted attention from that perspective too.

@a96on487 @nateinthewild Lol, you think those costs are fixed? Mass produced robots will be relatively cheap, they can repair themselves and update their own software as necessary. Roi would be a year or less compared to a human.

@monomyth @nateinthewild "it" can't go forever. At least yet. This is the first time they made it work this long. But if you mean potential future robot that can be created tomorrow or in 100 years, sure. Although this is true about dying from boredom.

@Zlacher88 @nateinthewild Cost of electricity + cost of robot + cost of repairs and software updates. Only for turning over packages (the same ones that just go around). But in the future when there's something useful I guess.

@a96on487 @nateinthewild They could have 5 of these working 24/7 for the cost of electricity rather than paying you far more to work 8hrs/ day. This is also early tech. Its like the nokia phone, the 2026 cell phone is much more impressive.

@LumiF27615 Arguing is not the same as conflict. Arguing is a very narrow form of conflict that always end up without resolution.
