Yesterday I was shocked when i heard our 9 year old call his dad a “dumb Jew.” I lectured him very seriously on anti-semitism and respecting his dad. He giggled and said “mom, I know all that. But what I said was ‘DON’T YOU?’ I’d never call someone a dumb Jew. Jews are smart.”

If that friend or acquaintance isn’t being super responsive to you, don’t take it personally. Maybe she’s working multiple jobs and doesn’t have time to breathe. Maybe she’s in an abusive relationship. Maybe she’s struggling with mental health. Give her grace, be available.
