@marcuslemonis I have a Marine vet Dan (combat veteran with PTSD rating) in emergency surgery at Vanderbilt in Nashville right now. His only transportation was his motorcycle. He was in a serious crash. It would be beautiful to get him a vehicle. He is an incredible spirit!!!!

As we approach Mother’s Day- this is reality for many. Years of sacrifice, love and imperfections has turned this “therapized” generation into emotional blackmailing bullies.
Draw a line. Take your dignity back. Refuse the linear labels. Love yourself and protect your peace. Relationships- even parent/adult child, are built on reciprocity and humanness.
Self reflection is one thing- becoming a slave to the labels, expectations and demoralizing treatment of your kids is not required to make amends for parental shortcomings.
People are allowed to change. I suggest you find a network of others living through this hell and find your peace again as a human being deserving of love and kindness. 🌸

Raw and open communication. Talk about everything. Talk through everything. It is damaging when we hold bitterness and resentment, and do not share it. There are so many things that can build up over the years…small, big, everything in between. Do not shut down. Talk, keep talking. Communication is key.

Good morning, Gretchen. I have followed you for many years and have found, and continue to find your leadership and loyal commitment to God and your fellow man, not just admirable, but inspirational. I thank you for that as I have no doubt you help many people, not just veterans. It is with this deep respect for you and the sharing of your life's experience that I ask this question of you without asking exactly what happened, but I am asking if you could, or should even provide guidance to others who might be having marital problems and if there is a way to avoid divorce? Your input may help others. If I am out of line, please forgive me. Your faith in God and your common sense to this life just seems to go hand in hand. God bless you regardless. He is leading you and it is certainly His will not mine that I follow.

I think I am going to move back to Murfreesboro TN to be near my family. My son and I are doing our due diligence on a franchise I am looking at buying. It is going to take time. I love the thought of a mother/son business. In the meantime, I’ll go to the gym and do my job. I work at DSS in Adult Protective Services. It is an intense, but meaningful position.
