@jezwyke @films_that I can’t agree (as a non-2000AD fan, although I did have the 1981 annual as a kid). I thought it looked great, Sly looked exactly right (with the helmet on) and it had a cool if underused robot. I do like the Karl Urban version though, which I presume is more source-faithful.

@films_that No. Absolutely not. Not ever. Not only is it not very good, but it's ENTIRELY antithetical to the source. It's so utterly tone deaf, but it's almost like it was solely made to annoy people. Not just people who read/read 2000AD. Absolute garbage and frankly, should be deleted

@MLSMoves Yea, prices are crazy but remember that experiencing a World Cup is not about just going to live games, it's about experiencing the cities/towns that hosting games, the atmosphere, the excitement, it's a lot more than just being at the game itself.

When the 2026 World Cup was announced for the United States back in 2018, I told myself there was no way I’d miss it. I was going to be there in person, experiencing a World Cup on home soil and I know so many of you felt the exact same way. Fast forward to now, and the ticket prices are completely astronomical. Outrageously unaffordable. What was supposed to be the dream of a lifetime has been priced out of reach for regular fans like me. I’m going to miss watching my country host the biggest event in sports… something I may never get to experience again in my lifetime. Yes, they’re going to make money off this massive event on U.S. soil. But the greed has gone too far. It’s ruining the beautiful game and turning it into something only the wealthy can enjoy. A World Cup should be for everyone not just those who can drop thousands without blinking. This is an absolute shame.

And now I’m here at this lovely rooftop bar in central London. It’s a gorgeous, hot, sunny day, with a balcony that overlooks all of the London landmarks, so have a guess why nobody is sat outside? That’s right; you’re not allowed drinks outside anymore. They had an incident on Saturday and since then have banned drinks outside. This is everything that’s wrong with this country. A few people do something stupid and instead of dealing with them, everyone has their fun stopped. Bloody depressing.

@HalTheBlade Yes, an afternoon down the park was fraught with danger in the 70s and 80s. I too feared these things, along with the Bermuda Triangle. I had never been on a plane, and wasn’t likely to, but was terrified nonetheless.
