@lexfridman If you are serious about a debate, you should have Gideon Levy representing the Palestinian argument, and a similarly decorated intellectual representing Israel.
Quick poll about Israel-Palestine debate/episodes. I'm considering either a 2v2 debate or two solo episodes. Your advice is appreciated. Here's the lineup:
Palestine:
Norm Finkelstein - historian
Mouin Rabbani - Palestinian analyst
Israel:
Benny Morris - historian
Steven Bonnell (Destiny) - political streamer
2v2 debate:
Norm & Mouin vs Benny & Destiny
1v1 debate:
Norm vs Benny
Solo episodes:
Norm (solo)
Benny (solo)
Side note:
I may also do solo episodes with Bassem Youssef, Douglas Murray, and others. This is unrelated to this poll.
Thoughts:
The deep historian-on-historian conversation is between Norm and Benny. They have a long history of scholarly disagreement. However, I believe Destiny can help provide a counter-balance to Norm's style of conversation which will actually result in a great 3-5+ hour long-form discussion. Destiny and Benny have done a stream together and have great chemistry. Norm and Mouin know each other very well and have great chemistry. I, as moderator, would push for a conversation that is free-flowing, fair, good-faith, respectful, and productive.
Suggestions:
I'm also happy to take suggestions on other lineups and better ways to do this debate, or if to do it at all.
Going to start an @AlchemyLearn daily standup channel in the Discord and this is the start of my daily stand up thread:
1. What I did yesterday?
Nothing, it was Sunday so I mainly rested. I played around with DiscordJS, nowadays it is incredibly easy to set up a Discord bot by using ChatGPT to help write its functionality. I created a bot that does something very simple: every day at 9:00 AM PST, it will send a message in one of the AU Discord channels...
2. What I want to accomplish today?
Finalize new Alchemy ambassadors program structure and create some Create Web3 Dapp video tutorials.
3. Any blockers?
Minor blocker but need to learn how to deploy the new Discord bot on a server like Heroku and find a way to host it free.
gratitude is a cheat code.
things not going well? you can be grateful you even exist, you’ll always have that.
an easy way to get started: write 1 short 300 word gratitude letter to something or something new everyday.
