@darrenmarble @Fxhomma Yup. Agree completely when available. But if the in is with an associate that is def not going to be a barrier in any way (just at most an extra call).

Talking with a VC Associate will almost never convert into actual funding. (Still true in 2026)

@tmrohan It's certainly no guarantee. You have to give a fund a reason to. But a fund will step up to the plate 100/100 times before an angel will do anything when times get tough. Angels are still HUGELY valuable. A mix is required IMO.

@a_felbinger It is exceedingly rare that that "1 big fund" will write that a bridge round.

10 angels in your seed round will always outperform 1 big fund investing an incremental $1M.

@darrenmarble @Fxhomma 100%. But neither do a lot of 'partners' (title inflation is laughable for exactly the point of your thread). Big misconception = pitching an associate and getting a pass is because it was an associate. You're getting the same pass if you pitch partners 100 times out of 100.

@Fxhomma @a_felbinger The only thing I need to know as a founder is that Associates don’t make decision. Best practice: only pitch decision-makers.

@Fxhomma @darrenmarble Yes. Many deals as an associate. Including a $15M post that is now $2.1B.

@darrenmarble Pull doesnt matter. Bringing good deals does. If the deal is good and the associate brings it GPs DNGAF.
