@aso_rocc @Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers If I'm being honest, not 100% ready due to lack of credit to help fund transactions, in the US there's something called an SBA loan, you can take the loan to fund 20-50% of your acquisition cost.
So imagine BOI funding 50% of your acquisition cost of 500m at a 10% rate
The gap
English

@Yemi_S @aso_rocc @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers The 5000-8000 I mentioned relates to the US, Nigeria us very far from that
English

@a_odunsii @aso_rocc @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers I was asking about the business value in Nigeria from the 5-8k you mentioned not the US.
English

@SheikhAnalo @Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers Yes they are a couple
Bizbuysell is the biggest in the US and they have some Canadian listings, businessforsale is a global platform, businesssellcanada is fully Canadian and @n2sbizbrokers is fully Nigerian lol
English

@Yemi_S @aso_rocc @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers You are wrong about that, you'd be surprised some owners do with a seller financing structure,
They are basically loaning you the money to acquire their business, loan is paid back in two ways, deffered payment and earn outs, it shows how mature the US market is.
English

@Yemi_S @aso_rocc @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers The definition of small business varies, in the US, a business with $1m-$50m in revenue is classified as a small business, with a average valuation of 2x-3x ebitda so from $250k to $10m in acquisition cost averagely
English

@Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers It's very common to see random guys hit a liquidity event at their job and decide to resign to buy a business or some even go the MBA route and decide to buy a business instead of getting a job thus subcribes to the search fund I mentioned earlier, Stanford has a search fund p
English

@Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers Both mentioned make up buyers but id also include random retail buyers/small cap investors, PE firms, Search funds(this deserves its own explanation but you can check it out), other small businesses buy for expansions, synergy, vertical integrations.

@Yemi_S @TamaraPosibi Apologies for the website, we currently have it in the works, we launched officially months ago and started broker led, the marketplace comes next 🙏
English

@TamaraPosibi @a_odunsii Thank you Tamara. Oh, first time hearing about this. Wish it had a website though.
English

@aso_rocc @Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers But asides this, there's activity always!
Deals happen everyday, it's been 6 months we launched officially and we've done over $500k in transaction value brokered and looking to close the year with $1m in transaction value brokered.
English

@a_odunsii @Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch @BizBuySell @n2sbizbrokers Do you think the Nigeria market is ripe for this?. Can you share your thoughts?
English

@Yemi_S @Ssaasquatch Yes, they are so many other platforms like that, most popular is @BizBuySell they facilitate 5000-8000 small business sale in the last year, we are building the African version here @n2sbizbrokers
English

@Ssaasquatch Absolutely. The only annoying part is you have to pay to view the businesses but I understand 😭
English

@Ecom_Brokers Facts, that’s what I always tell my sellers too.
You can’t sell your business if no one refuses to buy it
So businesses are not sold
They are bought.
English

A seller thought his brand was worth $220K.
We disagreed.
Not because of the revenue.
Because of the risk involved
Few ad account bans, single market dependence etc.
The business sold at the valuation we quoted.
It is not about what you think something is worth, it’s about what someone is willing to pay.

VFD in Nigeria is closest to this structure.
Listed
Multiple companies/subsidiaries
Not driven by 5-7 year exit cycle

A lot of people think that Berkshire is a private equity firm, but it's actually closer to a public equity/fixed income firm. It's structured as a permanent capital vehicle/holding company. But in terms of the portfolio, mainly public equities and fixed income (US treasuries)

@olumidefranci Hi, yes please.
Will reach out privately!
English

@a_odunsii Would you be available for a short discussion to see how to work something out around your schedule.

Earlier this year I conceived this idea for the Nigerian market where business owners will have opportunity to sell their business instead closing it, where children can sell their deceased parent business if they're not willing to carry on.
I called two of my guys and share the idea with but fortunately we're too occupied to work on execution plans.
Now truly I believe ideas are moving spirits if you don't act they go somewhere else, never the less I'm glad to see the real tangible results of the though of my heart
