📍 Strengthening local capacity to prevent violent extremism and identify early signs of radicalisation in Mozambique Last week, Mr David Machimbuko, Administrator of the District of Lichinga, opened a GCERF and the Agency for the Integrated Development of the North (ADIN) training on Preventing Violent Extremism highlighting exactly this. Facilitated by Dr Manuel Sambo, GCERF's National Advisor, the training was designed to equip local government authorities and people already embedded in their communities with the knowledge and tools to act before crisis takes hold. In Lichinga, Niassa province, one of the three provinces most affected by violent extremism in Mozambique over 40 community leaders, government officials, women's associations, and civil society representatives came together to discuss and understand what PVE truly entails. Addressing the gathering, Mr Machimbuko said: "We hope that each participant leaves here more prepared, with solid knowledge on how to prevent and deal with this phenomenon." This gathering in Lichinga marks the second in a series of four trainings, following a first session held in Maputo in November 2024. Two further trainings are planned in Cabo Delgado and Nampula GCERF and ADIN are committed to making sure it continues. 🎥 Watch glimpses from the training: youtube.com/watch?v=GNMDJ9… @eu_eeas @AA_stabilisiert @stefanomanservi
