Unlocking New Horizons for Air Connectivity in Assam! The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Assam in Dispur for conducting a pre-feasibility study of five new greenfield airports. The MoU signing ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Sh. @himantabiswa ji. The MoU was signed in the presence of Secretary, @MoCA_GoI, Sh. @samirsinha69, and Chairman, AAI, Sh. @vipinkumarIAS, along with senior officials from the Centre and the State. The proposed airport sites include the Manas National Park region, Umrangshu, Majuli, Diphu and Charaideo. This forward-looking initiative aims to significantly strengthen regional air connectivity, accelerate tourism and economic growth, expand commercial opportunities, and further reinforce Assam’s strategic position as the gateway to the Northeast.

A Runway Friction Testing was recently carried out at Dibrugarh Airport @aaidibairport, Assam. This strengthens AAI's unwavering commitment to ensuring optimal runway surface performance, strict compliance with prescribed aerodrome standards, and the highest benchmarks of aircraft operational safety. Such proactive safety assessments underscore our continued focus on operational excellence and passenger safety across all airports.
