Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE chaired a roundtable on “Unlocking Financing Pathways for India’s Net-Zero Energy Transition: Strategies for Industry-Finance Collaboration” organised in collaboration with US–India Strategic Partnership Forum at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, today. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity, emphasising the need for strong industry participation and enabling financing frameworks to support the country’s clean energy transition. Industry stakeholders actively shared insights on strengthening industry–finance linkages, including the need for innovative financing instruments, streamlined processes, and improved capital access to accelerate investment. Discussions also focused on mobilising domestic capital, enhancing investor confidence, and creating scalable financing models to ensure a smoother, faster flow of investment into the renewable energy sector. #MNRE #EnergyCooperation #REFinance #RenewableEnergy

Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, India’s #RenewableEnergy journey is redefining both affordability and sustainability. What once seemed distant is now a reality—#SolarEnergy, which cost nearly ₹20 per unit 25 years ago, is now available at around ₹2.15 per unit, and even with storage, it is about ₹2.80 per unit. Combined solutions of solar, wind, and battery are delivering power at approximately ₹4 per unit, significantly lower than new thermal power, which costs around ₹7–8 per unit. This transition is not only cost-effective but also environmentally responsible. With firm and dispatchable renewable energy priced at ₹4–5 per unit, there is a saving of nearly ₹2–2.5 per unit, making clean energy a practical choice for the future. Initiatives like @PMSuryaGhar and #PMKUSUM are further empowering citizens, enabling them to charge vehicles, run agricultural equipment and even earn through surplus energy savings. While challenges such as transmission and grid stability remain, continuous advancements in technology are paving the way forward. The direction is clear and the resolve is strong, India is moving steadily towards a cleaner, more resilient energy future through renewable energy.

The future of energy lies in non-fossil fuel sources, and India is making remarkable strides in this transition. Significant progress in #GreenHydrogen has brought costs down to nearly ₹279/kg—the lowest in the world, a milestone that seemed unimaginable when the National Green Hydrogen Mission #NGHM was launched. Similarly, #GreenAmmonia prices have reached around ₹45.70/kg, opening new pathways for sustainable industrial use. Notably, nearly 28% of ammonia used in the fertiliser industry is set to be substituted with green alternatives, reducing import dependence and strengthening self-reliance.

Marching ahead with determination towards the 500 GW #RenewableEnergy target by 2030, India’s clean energy journey is gaining unprecedented momentum. Our module and manufacturing capacities have expanded significantly, strengthening domestic capabilities. Distributed renewable energy alone has reached 35 GW, powered by nearly 55 lakh decentralised installations, including 31 lakh homes under @PMSuryaGhar and 23 lakh solarised irrigation pumps under #PMKUSUM. What once seemed unimaginable a decade ago has now become reality. Today, India stands as the 3rd largest producer of renewable energy, reflecting the transformative progress achieved under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji.

The approval of the Small Hydro Power (SHP) Development Scheme marks a focused step towards expanding decentralized power across India. By supporting projects in hilly terrains, North Eastern states, and remote regions, the scheme aims to bring reliable energy closer to where it is needed most. With targeted financial assistance, a strong push for indigenous manufacturing, and a clear focus on local employment generation, small hydro is set to play a key role in strengthening last-mile energy access. A steady move towards building resilient, regionally distributed power infrastructure. For more info visit: pib.gov.in/PressReleasePa… #MNRE #SmallHydro #RenewableEnergy

As we enter the final chapters of Sun to Soil — Winter & Summer Editions — the journey comes full circle. From precise winter irrigation to high summer water demand, PM-KUSUM solar pumps enable reliable, daytime irrigation aligned with farm needs, reducing dependence on diesel. Across pre-monsoon, monsoon, winter, and summer, this series has shown how solar supports farming through every phase. With 23.8 lakh+ pumps installed/solarised (till Feb 2026), the impact is already visible across fields nationwide. This marks the close of the seasonal series. Stay tuned with MNRE for what’s next. #PMKUSUM #SeasonalSeries #SuntoSoil #MNRE #SolarEnergy #SolarPumps @JoshiPralhad | @shripadynaik | @PIB_India | @mygovindia

Hon'ble PM @narendramodi ji underscored the significant progress India has made in the energy sector. Today, half of the country’s total installed power generation capacity comes from renewable sources, with total capacity surpassing a historic 250 GW. Solar power, in particular, has expanded nearly 40 times since 2014, from 2 GW to 130 GW and under the @PMSuryaGhar Muft Bijli Yojana, approximately 30 lakh households have installed rooftop solar panels.
