Today we are announcing one of the largest housing discrimination lawsuits in US history against 124 real estate companies and brokers for discriminating against low-income families with housing vouchers – and we got it all on recording. (Thread) nytimes.com/2022/05/25/nyr…

In @CityLimitsNews, I urge @GovKathyHochul to join the State Legislature in expanding the Housing Access Voucher Program (HAVP) pilot, a state-funded housing voucher program, to $250 million in the forthcoming state budget. 🔗 ⬇️

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
If you own a home with a basement, attic, or backyard, chances are you’ve thought about using it to earn a little extra income or as space for a loved one. We want to make it as easy (and affordable) as possible for you to do that. NYC recently legalized ADUs — but for too many New Yorkers, they’re still tied up in bureaucracy and expense. We're fixing that. Our new toolkit at nyc.gov/aduforyou includes preapproved building plans and a financing calculator so you can get right to building. If we want New York to remain a city for everyone, we have to make it easier for homeowners to stay here. ADU for You will do just that.

GREAT The largest city in America, replete with a 24/7 media cycle, a billion special interests, and nonstop around the clock political warfare, is unforgiving. If the left wants staying power, it needs ruthless operators who can achieve big results, like Zohran can — and will!

Zohran’s NYC Department of Transportation commissioner just wrote a great op-ed in support of saving the outdoor dining program, which brought countless people/restaurants revenue, food, and happiness. And I think that’s a great thing, because cities should be fun places to live!
NYC DOT@NYC_DOT

It’s time for us to save outdoor dining—make it year-round and cut the red tape. “Streets once dominated by parked cars became lively public spaces filled with conversation, energy, and community.” Commissioner Mike Flynn’s op-ed: nydailynews.com/2026/03/15/its…

“Being a voucher holder is a soul-crushing exercise in rejection, humiliation and human suffering,” said Aaron Carr, executive director of Housing Rights Initiative. “If you don’t want people coming after you for breaking the law, stop breaking the law.”

Dozens of lawsuits. One recurring question about Section 8 vouchers. The Times examines the legal battles unfolding between a tenant and L.A. landlords — and the fight over whether the cases combat discrimination or go too far. latimes.com/california/sto…

@aaronAcarr Yes, I was just referring to the type of voluntary public engagement that doesn't actually slow down approvals (e.g., competitions to design a specific public place, workshops to gather design suggestions, etc.). Definitely shouldn't extend the timeline or complicate land use!

One of the main drivers of NYC’s housing crisis is that public officials would rather seek input from those who already have housing than from the hundreds of thousands of families stuck on affordable housing waitlists in a city with a 1.4% vacancy rate & 100,000 homeless people.

@SukritGanesh Where did I say I’m not in favor of public input? The real question is, what do we mean by input? Genuine engagement, or a pretext for delay? But you already know this.

@prameet Again, your board may be impressive relative to others, but NYC’s affordable housing crisis will never be solved under the current fragmented system. The very system that produced our historic housing shortage and the mass human suffering that has followed.
