Today, I signed the Recovery First Ordinance. This legislation makes long-term recovery the main goal of San Francisco’s approach to substance use treatment—defining recovery as living a healthy, self-directed life, free from illegal drug use. Thank you Supervisor @mattdorsey, our partners in public health and public safety, and to the recovery community that is fighting to build a safer, healthier, and more hopeful city for everyone.

Today, Westside Community Services, the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, and The Salvation Army opened James Baldwin Place, an abstinence-based recovery housing program. Thank you, Westside Community Services for making us a partner in this meaningful project.
