THIS IS HEARTBREAKING 9-year-old schoolgirl Millie Rose Hedley died just 24 hours after doctors finally diagnosed her with aggressive acute myeloid leukaemia, her devastated mum Kimberley, 30, from Newton Aycliffe, says medics had repeatedly dismissed a year of symptoms like bone pain and extreme tiredness as “just the flu” and told her “her immune system was developing”, by December Millie was vomiting and unable to keep fluids down, so Kimberley rushed her to A&E where tests finally revealed the rare blood cancer on 22 December, she was transferred to a specialist hospital but nothing could be done and she passed away the next day, mum Kimberley is now raising awareness of AML symptoms and has driven 2,950 miles to Benidorm and back to fundraise for the Great North Children’s Hospital team who tried to save her daughter, she said Millie will always be remembered for her “gentle heart, fun spirit and the love she gave so freely”,
