At today’s Suffolk County Legislative Breakfast, we appreciated hearing from @SenDeanMurray, @jodiforny, @senatormattera, and Asm. Steve Stern to discuss how to make NY a place where people can afford to live, age, & thrive.

NYC’s older population grew 34% in the past decade and older adult poverty rose nearly 50%. Services haven’t kept pace. The #AgeStrongNY agenda calls for investments in nutrition programs, Older Adult Centers, affordable housing & family caregiver support.

New Yorkers can’t afford to wait—and neither can the budget. Older adults are also among the state’s most reliable voters. Candidates who want to lead must speak directly to their priorities.

New York has a $260 billion budget. So why are older adults still languishing in their homes, reusing adult diapers, & going days without home‑delivered meals? The #AARPNY + @cityandstateny forum made one thing clear: the Master Plan for Aging must move from paper to action.
