Following my appointment by our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as Chairman of the Ekiti State Governorship Campaign Council, I arrived in Ado-Ekiti ahead of the official flag-off rally with a clear sense of responsibility. I was warmly received by the Governor of Ekiti State and our gubernatorial candidate, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. I held a strategic meeting with Governor Oyebanji and key stakeholders to review our preparedness, refine campaign plans, and strengthen coordination across the state. Thereafter, I conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the rally venue, which reflected strong organisation, enthusiasm, and readiness among party faithful. I am impressed by the visible development across Ekiti State under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership, which provides a solid foundation for our campaign. His purposeful governance and connection with the people present a compelling case for continuity. As Chairman, I remain committed to delivering on this mandate by mobilising grassroots support and ensuring a successful campaign. I receive with deep appreciation the decision of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations to confer upon me the distinguished honours of Fellow and Patron, alongside the recognition as a World Public Relations Forum Governance Ambassador, endorsed by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management, representing 126 member countries. These honours, conveyed during the recent courtesy visit led by the President of the Institute, Dr. Ike Neliaku, rise above the realm of personal distinction; they reflect a collective affirmation of the principles that guide our work in Kaduna State: integrity in leadership, transparency in governance, and responsibility in public communication. I accept these recognitions with humility and with a heightened sense of responsibility. They reaffirm my conviction that sustainable governance is anchored not only on policy direction, but on trust; carefully built through clarity, consistency, and genuine engagement with citizens. The progress we have recorded in peacebuilding, infrastructure development, and inclusive growth is the product of deliberate choices, grounded in accountability and strengthened by open, credible communication. I commend the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for its enduring role in shaping narratives that enhance institutional credibility and public confidence. As we host the 3rd NIPR Week here in Kaduna State, we remain resolute in our commitment to fostering constructive dialogue, deepening national cohesion, and projecting a truthful and forward-looking image of our state and our country. Breaking News: Uba Sani Approves N4.289 Billion for Pensioners, Deepens Commitment to Dignity and Welfare of Senior Citizens. Governor Uba Sani, CON, has approved the release of N4.289 billion for the payment of pension entitlements, gratuities, and death benefits to retired civil servants and the families of deceased workers across State and Local Government services. The approval covers obligations under the Contributory Pension Scheme (Accrued Rights) and the Defined Benefit Scheme (Gratuities and Death Benefits), in line with the administration’s resolve to clear outstanding liabilities and strengthen social protection. In a statement issued and signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the development was described as a clear reflection of Governor Uba Sani’s people-centred approach to governance and his firm commitment to prioritising the welfare of senior citizens. “Governor Uba Sani remains deeply committed to the welfare of our senior citizens. This intervention goes beyond the settlement of liabilities; it is about restoring dignity, honouring years of meritorious service, and assuring our retirees and the families of deceased workers that their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” the Commissioner stated. Malam Maiyaki further disclosed that the latest disbursement reinforces the administration’s consistent efforts to address pension backlogs and rebuild trust in the system. “This decisive action underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare, dignity, and financial security of our senior citizens who devoted their productive years to public service. With this release, the cumulative sum paid since the inception of this administration has reached N17.796 billion, benefiting no fewer than 8,344 retirees and families of deceased workers,” he added. The Commissioner emphasized that the Governor’s interventions in the pension sector are part of broader governance reforms aimed at promoting fiscal discipline, enhancing transparency, and ensuring sustainability in the management of public finances. He reassured that the Kaduna State Government will continue to implement prudent financial strategies and institutional reforms to guarantee the timely settlement of pension obligations, while safeguarding the long-term viability of the system. The administration, he noted, remains resolute in its duty to uphold the dignity of labour and to ensure that public servants retire with a sense of fulfilment, security, and respect.
