here's notes i took the first day i set it up:
-11:42am battery 99% charged and disconnected from charger (i never charge my battery this much just doing it for testing normally it's max charged at 80%). using claude/codex/llms for machine configuration/browsing web. writing & sending out newsletter. installing missing yay/pacman packages/compiling packages
-1:33pm 86% battery many restarts of computer installing more stuff coding etc. haptic touchpad was really sensitive so i opened computer and reattached it and it fixed it around 1:15pm
-1:50pm 83% watching twitch/youtube setting up more config stuff
-2pm close laptop to eat breakfast (i'm a monster)
-2:12pm return from brekky after closing laptop battery still at 83% (wow)
-3:01pm machine hasn't gotten anywhere close to hot a single time 74% battery left
-3:21pm 71% battery left - coding/using remote def machine/updating configs/watching videos/scrolling the interwebs
-3:26pm close laptop to go to gym and go on walk
-5:34pm open laptop again laptop is at 70% battery (INSANE ONLY LOST 1%)
-5:56pm still haven't heard the fans a single time
-11:26pm machine is pretty much entirely set up and still has 22% including needing to go back through and re-encrypt my entire hard drive. watched tons of youtube and streams and did more work stuff and still have plenty of battery insanely impressed
-11:46pm at 18% gonna charge my laptop now
a couple things to note here too:
-this is a pre-production machine
-i was messing around with different power profiles (performance/balanced/power-saver) the entire time i was using the machine which doesn't really mirror how i'd use the machine typically
-6pm - ~midnight i was using the machine the whole time just didn't write anything down
overall i'm really impressived with battery life excited to see how it continues performing now that i pretty much have everything set up

the framework 13 pro is the macbook pro of linux
>haptic touchpad
>great touchscreen
>insane battery life
>full aluminum chassis
>comfortable keyboard
framework sent me a pre-production unit and i'm genuinely blown away by this machine
i've been daily driving a framework machine for over a year and the 13 pro feels 10x more premium
to me the biggest win is battery life: i can confidently say this machine easily lasts me the entire day (and this is with capping my charging to 80% for battery health). i'm someone who always carries a battery bank on me but with this machine battery truly isn't a concern
i can do my work for hours on end and still have hours of battery life to spare. i can go work at a coffee shop and not have to worry about being near an outlet. while it sounds small this gives me immense peace of mind which is what i try to optimize for in my life
and like any framework i can still repair/upgrade any part of this machine
if you're looking for a new machine i highly recommend checking out the new framework 13 pro

@aavvironalex @phoronix Yeah I can, that's that I do anyways but it's just extra on the top I don't care for.
Kubuntu wise they're kind of good with that stuff.

@aavvironalex @phoronix *strap
I've built kde before but it doesn't exactly appeal if you know what I mean. (large projects and all)
I wish they had a rolling release on stuff like this, ubuntu wise.
English

@aavvironalex @phoronix Neon called home the last few times I tried it plus it really wasn't all that up to date as goofy as that sounds.
Been there and done 'dat...
I consider it spyware.
I'm just gonna have to wait until next oct.
English

@konigssohne @phoronix Well, Ubuntu is generally slow when it comes to updates, but it is rather stable.
If you want something Debian based that supports modern KDE and is stable, go for KDE Neon.

@BrodieOnLinux Stop giving a shit about what they say about you, unless you can use it as a drive for self-improvemet.
So, I see what you did here.
Nice!
Keep it up!
