@righttobikeit @roadcc @sticky_bottle @theJeremyVine This is true but how do we get people to be more observant? If they have an observation issue, then either they need to not have driving licences or driving needs to be more idiot-proof. I'm world weary, my expectations of others are pretty low!

@righttobikeit @roadcc @sticky_bottle @theJeremyVine We shld campaign for safer infrastructure that makes priorities patently obvious. I know ignorance of finer points of highway code amongst many motorists is disappointing, but having big, obvious signage on roads is going to be seen by many more drivers than highway code nuances.

@righttobikeit @roadcc @sticky_bottle @theJeremyVine A traffic light here or better, divert cycle lane left a van's length at this junction make a cycle-priority crossroads on the side road, with obvious give way signage and road markings would solve it...

@righttobikeit @roadcc @sticky_bottle @theJeremyVine People waste so much time arguing over who is at fault, but it's not obvious *enough* that the vehicles have to give way to cycle lane. If it was, van would have given way. It's an infrastructure design problem...

@AffinityWater not sure if you're aware there appears to be a burst water main on Woolgrove Road Hitchin SG4, road is 3/4 covered by Highover Way junction.

Thought-provoking article in the Guardian today - ‘Who remembers proper binmen?’ I find it very intriguing how this sentiment overlaps with the (rightly critiqued) culture of 'glory through suffering' in cycling and its popularity among 'MAMILs'. theguardian.com/news/2022/nov/…

@Josephineperry I don't think any of mine or my sisters were kept, but I know we definitely did the cola experiment on one or two, leaving them soaking on a cup of the stuff overnight which was fun and a bit educational?

Random parenting question...what do you do with fallen out teeth. Where does the 'tooth fairy' take them? We are onto the third. To throw away a piece of her feels cruel, but to keep them all feels weird.

@andyschickenhat @Fellwanderer82 @allpartycycling @Chris_Boardman Agree! We moved out of London to a small-ish town in Herfordshire and the cycling in London felt a lot easier/safer in many ways than here, mainly because of the infrastructure. So long as you avoid commuting into Central London at rush hour - that's an acquired taste!

@dorarubinstein @BBCRadio4 I heard this too and thought the same! And if you look on twitter many media outlets are leading with this message in the headline 🙄

Ummm @BBCRadio4 - did I just hear someone say 'a new study suggests the best time for women to exercise is in the morning' - followed by the actual study which said 'women burn more body fat if they exercise in the morning, whereas they gain more muscle strength in the evening'

@Josephineperry Is she too old for Zog and the Flying Doctors? My 4 y.o. is quite enthusiastic about vaccination (took her for chickenpox dose 2 this morning) and I think a lot of it is the Princess Pearl effect!

Booked 5 year olds covid vaccine. Any good tips for negotiation / bribery / calming to get her to have it without tears? I think we are beyond the ‘watch Peppa pig while we do this’ trick we used to have!

@Josephineperry 1) wow this discussion is mega! 2) for sport, predictably torn between swimming and running 3) for getting about, maybe one of those ellipticals on wheels for the next best thing?! Or scooting as it's easier to store.

Cyclists - if cycling was banned and you had to try another sport… what would you choose - and why?

@GNRailUK Super thank you - that link worked. From Royston to Hitchin, between 8am and 9am. Looks like it'll be OK 👍😀

@GNRailUK can you tell me if bikes are allowed on services that arrive in KX before 0930 if you alight before KX (Hitchin in this case)?

@swimcanarywharf Not a technique I'd aim to imitate but I admit, I'm slightly in awe of that shoulder mobility😅
