No one in college basketball has scored more points per game this season than Ta’Niya Latson, and as conference play begins, she’s elevated her game even further. Through her first three ACC matchups, the Miami native is averaging an impressive (34.7) points per contest.
Latson is aiming to extend Florida State’s winning streak to seven games this week, a run that could help the Seminoles re-enter the AP Top 25. The challenge begins with a road matchup against Stanford, a team Latson faced last season when she tallied 23 points in just 22 minutes. The week wraps up with another road game against No. 24 Cal, a tough but winnable opportunity for Florida State.
The 5’8 guard has been dominant all season, and at the midway point, she’s firmly among the top five players in the country. She’s positioning herself as an All-American for the first time in her career and is among the leading candidates for National Player of the Year. She has scored 20 or more points in every game except one—and even in that outing, she managed 8 points in 10 minutes before leaving due to injury.
Her scoring ability sets her apart, but Latson’s game is far from one-dimensional. She’s shooting over 50% from the field, a testament to her efficiency and a case for her as the best pure scorer in college basketball. Beyond that, she contributes (4.3) assists per game and plays superb defense, ranking third in the ACC with (2.7) steals per contest. Latson’s versatility continues to make her one of the most dynamic players in the nation. ✨
