The reality is simple: people from Somaliland fill the refugee camps in Djibouti. Every day, they enter Djibouti in search of a better life (nolol fiican). If our system were truly that corrupt, why is it in our country that your citizens seek refuge and work?

First you didn’t address any of the points made. Travel and migration is normal pattern plenty of people from Djibouti that live and work in Somaliland. If you’re referring to those who come from generations that helped you with Djibouti independence well you should be grateful. Let’s be clear the reason why you worried about Somaliland Recognition not for a love of Somalia. It’s to keep them dependent on the corrupt banking system that money transfers and tax received.

@proud_african14 Even their stay in Berbera is untenable given the adverse response they are getting from Saudi Arabia which is fixed on evicting the UAE from the Red Sea Region. The UAE doesn’t have the wherewithal to impose itself on the region, def not without FGS & Saudi support.

Having lost their foothold in Yemen, UAE now views controlling the African side of the Red Sea as a strategic necessity. Given their huge investments in Berbera port and likely military base, recognizing Somaliland is their next logical step.

B/c the UAE was already engaged in subversive anti-state behaviors, funded sub-national entities to oppose the FGS, bankrolled political groups to cause headaches for the gov’t, it has negligible leverage. The UAE, is in fact, already regionally isolated & condemned state.
