@katayama8000 Pleasure. Sorry for the late response, I'm hardly visiting this network nowadays, but it is always great to see feedback like this.

Finally, someone made a good and modern replacement for vim. helix-editor.com Rust for the win! My original vim is just full of JS plugins to be able to work with LSP, etc., and it always breaks in some unexpected plugin with every update.

@whatsabschalten @signalapp This is not about avoiding changes. There are a lot of improvements that people want. I'm just saying a lot of existing users support Signal (I do even financially) not because they are missing Whatsapp. I would personally love not to use phone numbers as the main id for example.

@signalapp added recently bloody "Stories" and going to remove the SMS support... Did they hire a guy from Instagram or something?

@whatsabschalten @signalapp I would question your numbers for "millions of Signal users". I remember days when even stickers weren't considered something popular by Signal authors because the current profile of your users (aka target audience) is not the same as for Whatsapp.

In case you don't recognise this, this is the default HTML error page from GCP Load Balancer. Can we have a bit better look (I'm not asking JS/CSS - hell no, just a bit more touch not to hurt eyes), please @googlecloud ?

@GergelyOrosz This is why you should also introduce the classes of errors, not just a plain list of error codes. And even old HTTP has classes. 2xx, 4xx, 5xx. So, you can have the default error handler on the class levels and they expand rarely.

Lots of people saying Uber should have just interpreted the unknown message as “unsuccessful”. Not quite. Here’s a story from a startup that did just that… double and triple charging their customers. Alerting on never-before-seen responses is key over just assuming yay or nay.

As it's been ~3 years, figured I'll answer "What caused the Uber Eats glitch that allowed ordering free food for a weekend in India?" This was an outage on my watch. Given Quora is paywalled - can't post the answer w/o a sub - here's the story on idempotency & breaking changes:

@allenholub Probably because the right answer is: if x.isEven() && x > y Is better? (For the second isBigger seems cumbersome)

@JosPearce @SoVeryBritish Not only Scandinavians I presume (remember seeing the same in Germany), but definitely popular here. You can find a wide range even non alcoholic mulled wines in supermarkets Xmas season.

December 1st: Mull everything. If it moves, mull it. Wine? Mull it. Cider? Mull it. Water? Mull it. Socks? Mull ‘em. Pigeons? Get them mulled. Hair? Mullet. Kettle? Fill it with mull. Mull everything in Britain.

The state of #Scala3 development in @IntelliJScala is still disappointing and it seems the company behind had stopped investing sufficient resources. Is there any way to use Metal without changing IDE? (I use Metal with vim, but vim is an editor, not a fully functional IDE).

The latest unfortunate news about circe json library in Scala makes uncertainties about its future. Didn't expect to ask it in 2021, but any recommendation for JSON library for Scala in the coming years? @aplokhotnyuk I'm curious if jsoniter is available for Scala 3? :)

@justenhansen @roseleaf_inc Thanks, a kind gentleman. All my contacts, likes and tweets are usually about software development and engineering, so I have absolutely no idea why I received it. Yeah, I also realised as soon I posted this, than now Twitter algorithms is going to use it more.
