My wife Toby and I are in @Israel becoming citizens. At the Interior Ministry, the official reviewing our papers - a Jew who came from Ethiopia in 1991 - asked me for proof that I was Jewish. Immediately after incidents like the murder of two Israeli staffers in DC and the WHCD shooting, it was widely asserted that such violence was caused by those who harshly and angrily criticize Israel or Trump.
Are harsh criticisms of Islam/Muslims therefore the cause of this?

The two suspects in a Monday shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego are dead, according to a police source. The Islamic Center is the largest mosque in San Diego County, according to its website. Aerial TV footage showed more than a dozen children holding hands and being walked out of the parking lot of the center that is surrounded by scores of police vehicles.

Brother Amin Abdullah stood at the doors of the Islamic Center of San Diego for more than a decade greeting every soul who entered with a smile that those who knew him say never left his face. On Monday two attackers carrying anti-Muslim hatred arrived at the mosque while children sat in classrooms inside the complex. He did not run. He placed his body between the gunmen and the school and he held that ground until he could hold it no longer. CAIR San Diego said he was not just a guard but the first face of that community to anyone who came through the door and the last line of defence when it mattered most . He died doing exactly that.
His faith was unwavering and it allowed him to accept death rather than cowardice. The same faith that fuels the resistance against oppression from Gaza to Sudan to Lebanon to Iran to Kashmir to every doorway where a believer is asked to choose. Al-Islam.

Authorities have just reported that the suspects in the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, which left 3 dead, are a TRANS COUPLE identified as Cain Clark and Caleb Vazquez, who ultimately su!c!ded inside their car.

Videos of the #SanDiego mosque shooting have begun to emerge. I recommend not reposting them but will use pictures to answer a few questions I'm getting.
- First, I want to make one point clear: the video shows a young male matching Cain Clark’s description, wearing a tactical vest with a visible Sonnenrad patch — one of the main neo-Nazi and white supremacist emblems.
- Combined with the SS-marked red jerry can at the scene — a neo-Nazi symbol derived from the Schutzstaffel (SS) — this leaves little room for debate about the ideological motivation.
- To be clear, the symbols alone don’t prove they were the direct trigger for the shooting. But paired with
1) anti-Islamic writings recovered by law enforcement
2) hate markings on the firearms,
3) a note referencing racial pride and extremism, and
4) the choice of a mosque as the target,
they strongly indicate the attack was driven by white supremacist/neo-Nazi ideology.
- These symbols aren't random fashion choices. They are deliberate signals of a hateful worldview targeting specific groups, in this case Muslims.

His name is Amin Abdullah. He is the security guard who gave his life to protect the children and stop the terror attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. This man died a hero, but should still be alive and would be if it weren’t for the rising hatred against Muslims. RIP.

This is Mohamed Nader, one of the victims of the San Diego mosque terrorist attack…
His wife, Mrs. Khairaat, has served as a kindergarten teacher for decades. Their family has long been known within the ICSD community as “the neighbors of the masjid,” since they lived directly across the street.
When Nader heard the gunshots, he immediately ran toward the danger. He grabbed whatever he could from Brother Amin Abdullah and went inside to confront the two terrorists. He was martyred in the process.
At the same time, his wife was barricaded inside the kindergarten classroom with her students. Despite the unimaginable fear and chaos, she remained composed so the children would not be afraid. Imagine her strength... Evacuating with her students and then witnessing the carnage brought upon our house of worship and school.
Brother Nader was always trying to do right by people, especially by his children. His children attended my Quran classes, and their parents would often ask me to check in on them and mentor them. They cared deeply about their children and the children of the community. They would always say, “Please talk to our children because they listen to you and need good mentorship.” SubhanAllah, this is the kind of family the Awads are.
When Brother Nader heard the gunshots, he ran into the gunfire from across the street not knowing what would happen, only knowing that his wife, the children, and the community were in danger and that he had to do something. By the will of Allah, he delayed the shooters and prevented them from reaching the classrooms.
He saved an untold number of children’s lives yesterday.
May Allah accept Nader as a Shaheed.
