@lowlandsapien I'll never forget being 5 years old back in '79 and being chased by a Goanna down Big Burleigh to home (a fibro shack on Hale St). It seemed as big as this one to me and sure could run fast.
English

@DrewPavlou He rotates his torso left and right a lot for someone with "fractured ribs".
English

@GemmaTognini This only works if you're dressed like they hasidic diamond merchants or they in the C-I-Ayeeee....
English

@lowlandsapien I'm amazed that proposals for Port Stephens kept progressing. It's like no one actually went and looked at a nautical chart. Everyone assumed all that water was a great harbour and not just shallow flooded plain useless for anything other than recreational boating.
English

@lowlandsapien People entirely dependent on manual labour with no medical care don't move to completely undeveloped bushland on the other side of the world in their 50s and 60s.
English

@DrewPavlou They posed in front of the most munted plastering job of all time. Fixings not to spec in what looks like like a fire resistant board wall. And why is there a huge swath of topping all over the full height of 1/4 of the wall width? Very suss wall.

Australian Prime Minister celebrates the construction of 45 homes in 9 months.
Look at my country dawg, we are washed
Anthony Albanese@AlboMP
Nine months ago, these homes were still under construction. Now, 45 new social and affordable homes in Melbourne are ready for people to move into. We’re throwing everything we can at housing. 5% deposits for first home buyers. Fairer housing taxes. And more homes being built right across the country. Because everyone deserves a place to call home.
English

@DrewPavlou I got to know Al Grassby in the mid 90s in Canberra. He was the affable front man. The real boss was Elinor Grassby.

@DrewPavlou The Flynn Effect is caused by improvement in childhood protein intake year after year. Why poor people, especially from poor nations, score lower on IQs.

@GrayConnolly @ian_blewett The Army isn't a Service it's an association of Corps and Regiments. Each with their own culture and customs. They are not branches or musterings, they are all their own individual organisations.
English

@ian_blewett It is a sort of joint/purple evening but as mess VP (Mr Vice as it is known) I want to make sure I do not overlook the Army’s customs here
English

@GrayConnolly @RichardEdinger That's the meaning of armoured corps colours: brown, red and green. Mud, blood and green fields.
English

@emerallddgreen @DrewPavlou They lived in the lake that Mexico City is built on top of. So pretty contextual to Mexico.
English

@DrewPavlou Drew you demonstrate a limited understanding of the Aztec empire, unsurprisingly, unless you wanna play semantic games like enslaved. It functioned as an extortion racket. Further, they only really had anything to do with modern Mexico proper, rather than Central America.
English

If the Aztec Empire existed today, do you think there would be woke Aztecs insisting that everybody do land acknowledgments for the neighbouring Central American peoples they conquered and enslaved
Alex Patrascu@maxescu
A vision of a modern Tenochtitlan in 2026, in a timeline where the Aztec Empire repelled Spanish conquest and modernized on its own terms. Enjoy:
English

@DrewPavlou They conquered, enslaved and ATE.
Don't forget their cannibalism.
An important part of the cross cultural relationship.
English

@Jayman542 We used to have a deaf dog, back in the 80s, called Jess. She was a cattle dog and lots of fun. She could always smell what we were saying.
English

@lowlandsapien The Indian myna is not prohibited or restricted in Queensland. It is an “other invasive animal” which is the same level given to the cane toad.
We are required by law in Qld. to “minimise the risks” of all invasive animals.
Time to minimise risk with extreme prejudice.
English

@Jayman542 @SusieM414141 That's "Lake" Burley-Griffin in Canberra which is artificial. It's just a flooded plain Nd doesn't get much deeper.
The only animals in danger were the fools trying to "save" the kangaroo from having a bath.
English

@SusieM414141 10 seconds you can see it is Myopic, 100% guarantee it was not "saved" at all.
Anthropomorphism is a terrible blight on animal welfare.

@lowlandsapien @RepublicofThink I believe the term you are looking for is the "Chinese complete bullshit" not "Chinese theory".
English

@RepublicofThink Portugese. The Chinese theory is from the Treasure Fleet, 1421. (Im not a supporter of that one).
English

@lowlandsapien In France this could be considered very presidential.
But perhaps they hooked up too late in life?
English

My bosses boss has announced hes retiring. Congrats etc, very jealous but hes visually younger than 60s so we dug some more. Hes 50, his wife is 65 so they are going off her super. He would be on $300k+, she was a lawyer. They hooked up when he was 20 in the navy, tall and would have been good looking in his day.
He was her boytoy and early retirement is his reward. Sending him off to work with his little lunchbox and doing the top button on his perfectly ironed shirts.
