@k4rtik @ElucidationsPod @ilugdelhi Wow hadn’t even realised. I liked it because I took a course on FP at IITK taught by Dr. Piyush P Kurur Was blown away when some complex logic that was essentially a parser worked on first try after fixing compiler issues. Interestingly Dr. Piyush is also a graduate of NITC.

@ElucidationsPod According my gmail archive, I started hearing about it in 2009 on the ilug-d (India Linux Users Group Delhi, @ilugdelhi) mailing list. Then a proper push to learn Haskell came from @abhimanyuma in 2011.

@jasveer10 @avijeet_writes As per policy how many days do you give candidates to respond to the offer? A lot of companies I know give 2-3 days and act “surprised pikachu” face when candidates say yes and then do this.

Interviewed a backend developer. Guy was at 21 LPA. We offered 28 LPA, roughly a 33 percent hike. He agreed and confirmed joining. Yesterday he emailed saying he got a 32 LPA offer elsewhere and now wants 36 LPA from us. Nonsense. Why agree in the first place. If you are still shopping offers just say it upfront. We stopped interviewing other candidates and waited through the notice period for the joining date. Now two days before joining, he came back with a new price tag.

Sometimes some people say something so idiotic that it makes me question them entirely. Like how can you not know what “rates” and “per capita” mean when you are a businessman. In any other party there would have been people to let him know of his stupidity.
S.R.Praveen@myopiclenses

Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar claims that there is nothing to be proud of Kerala's extremely low Infant Mortality Rate as youth migration is high. Surely he knows that the IMR is calculated as the number of infant deaths per 1,000 live births. This is just meant to create a counter-narrative against the Kerala model by spreading this idea among a large, misinformed online army.

@that01dev @augustradjoe Not the author. A lot of people who can afford to eat meat replaces it with a carb heavy diet, a reluctance to serve or consume eggs. Both of these have religious reasons. Almost no other country considers Eggs and Milk differently, India does.

I’m so tired of Indian startup circles. First Bhavish’s BS, now this. This is deeply illegal, if you’re being discriminatory don’t be stupid enough to publicly post it. A very Indian trait is this deep focus on optics, not product. Mobile fNIRS is close to impossible and this is a non-sensical product from a team with no hardware background. This is based in Goyal’s personal woo-woo belief of gravity hypothesis. An Apple Watch will do just fine, not even a whoop. A Fitbit or Garmin is possibly better, but baseline is there’s proven technology that works, stop wasting money. Put that 50m seed round into things India need - secular, scientific thinking, lack of which is resulting in inequality and protein deficiency. We don’t have enough doctors, or nurses, and now we’re wasting money on this non-sense.

We're recruiting at @temple. At Temple, we are building the ultimate wearable for elite performance athletes. A device that measures what no other wearable in the world measures, with a level of precision that doesn't exist yet. To build it, we need people who are obsessive about both the craft and the category. Engineers who are also athletes. People who will wear what they build, and hate it until it's perfect. Roles we're hiring for: 🟠 Analog Systems Engineers, Electronics Design Engineers 🟠 Embedded Systems Engineers — low-level HW bring-up, embedded signal and image processing, embedded AI 🟠 Design and Validation Engineers — sensors, actuators, battery, antenna, optics 🟠 CMF Engineers, Adhesive Materials Engineers 🟠 Sensor Algorithms Engineers — estimation theory, sensor fusion 🟠 Deep Learning Engineers — ML model development for physiological metrics 🟠 Computational Neuroscientists 🟠 BCI Engineers — real-time EEG/EMG acquisition and processing 🟠 Neural Decoding Researchers — brain activity to semantic mapping 🟠 Computer Vision Engineers — facial microexpression, subvocal muscle detection 🟠 Neuroimaging ML Engineers — multimodal sensor fusion 🟠 Last but not the least, product managers who work through Figma without needing a designer to hold their hand Important – we are building for people who push their bodies to the edge. We want to be those people, not just serve them. So only people who take fitness seriously, and have body fat <16% (men) and 26% (women) should apply. If you're not there yet but will commit to getting there in three months, you can apply too; but you'll be on probation until you are. Write to build@temple.com with your core skill as the subject line. Come find your tribe.

@KiranKS Sarvam LLM model is genuinely a good thing, why complicate that by lying about how many employees DeepSeek has? If the model is useful people will use it.

China's Deepseek had 5000 researchers working on its AI models. India's Sarvam developed its foundational models from ground up with just 40 researchers! And trained on 105B parameters. Remarkable.

This is absolutely shameful. Agents of a federal agency unnecessarily escalating, and then executing a defenseless citizen whose offense appears to be using his cell phone camera. Every person regardless of political affiliation should be denouncing this.

@jacobdrozario @MoneyTelegraph It creates effectively a 60% marginal rate than a 60% effective tax rate, both the statements aren’t the same. You don’t suddenly only make £40K post tax once you hit £100K.

For those who don’t understand the issue: Once you earn over £100,000 you lose your personal allowance, creating a 60% effective tax rate, and you immediately lose tax-free childcare and free childcare hours. Child benefit was already gone long before. The result is that families earning £100–125k can be worse off than those on £99k and below. It’s a cliff-edge tax that can only be avoided by pension or salary sacrifice. It punishes ambition and rewards mediocrity. A perfect summary of the UK tax system.

@abidsensibull The current plan is to NOT move back unless external elements come into play like parent’s health, legal changes to immigration, economy and job loss etc. Don’t really want to spend hours in traffic going from one gated community to another in Bangalore.

Biggest proof @ECISVEEP is complicit in voter manipulation comes from the fact that they are not giving data in Digital Format. They spent time and took extra efforts to give data that can’t be easily read by machines so that it takes months to examine data and detect fraud

@rvghadwal @arunp2810 Yes it has but there is a language divide. Some people still say Trivandrum if they are speaking in English and Thiruvananthapuram when speaking in Malayalam. Even in 2008 that was the case. Dunno about other languages. Trivandrum has no meaning just a phoentic simplification.

A Royal Navy F-35 belonging to 809 Sqn embarked on HMS PoW, transiting past Kerala had to divert & land ashore. Pity the Brit pilot who had to make this radio call: “Thiruvananthapuram approach, request permission to ….”
