@HarmitMalik In SWE students apply to vacancy announcements for a project. The PI and student draft a study plan around the funded research topic. Students are admitted to the dept/faculty & have guranteed funding for 4 yrs. they can apply for student housing.

Are there good reliable resources you can recommend to my student? Is it true that grad students apply directly to labs rather than programs? The student is smart but not sure if they’re ready to commit to one type of research yet and would prefer to do rotations. 2/

NIH peer review system is far from perfect, but it's the best I've seen. I just "retired" from the GCAT study section after 4 years' of service, which prompted me to share a few thoughts re computational proposals. These are the points that I also remind myself. Other thoughts?🧵
