Clarification Regarding Claim of Compromise of CBSE OSM Portal In a post made by a user on social media, it has been claimed that the CBSE On Screen Marking (OSM) bearing URL: cbse.onmark.co.in was compromised by him on 26.02.2026. This has also formed the basis for a few news articles. At the outset, it is clarified that the Portal used for evaluation of answer-books bore a different URL, which has neither been compromised nor does it have the vulnerabilities indicated in the said social media post. The URL: cbse.onmark.co.in is the testing site only with sample data for internal testing and review purposes. There are no actual evaluation data, marks or other data held on that portal. The Board emphasises that no security breaches have come to light on the Portal deployed for the actual evaluation work. The online application portal for obtaining scanned copies of Class XII answer books is now functioning smoothly, and applications are being submitted successfully. 1,27,146 applications for obtaining 3,87,399 scanned answer books were submitted successfully by 7:30 pm on 20.05.26, that is, within 3 hours of the portal being opened. CBSE’s Commitment to Fair, Transparent and Equitable Evaluation It has been observed that following the declaration of the CBSE Class XII results, several posts have appeared on social media regarding the assessment under the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, particularly in relation to marks obtained by students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The OSM system was introduced to enhance transparency, fairness, and consistency in the evaluation process by ensuring stepwise marking, which has long been a salient feature of the Board’s evaluation framework. The system aims to promote uniformity and objectivity in the assessment of answer scripts across subjects and across regions. Another key feature of the Board’s evaluation system has been the opportunity afforded for re-evaluation provided to students who may be dissatisfied with their results. This reflects the Board’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and equity. Accordingly, this opportunity will be made available this year as well. Students may apply for copies of their evaluated answer books, and in case any discrepancy is observed by them, they may request for corrective action. These processes are required to be undertaken through the mechanism prescribed by the Board.
