🌪️ Would you chase a marginal day just for the vibes?

A trusted source just informed me of today’s final tornado tally. Nous surveillons la situation!

Am I accidentally going to chase on Tuesday? I’m taking a road trip and will be passing through around that time..

@AaronRigsbyOSC Don’t forget everyone trying to assess tornado potential with every trough, 7 days out lol

Not sure what’s more annoying on Twitter. Long range GFS, MJO saying the season is over, or the heated debate about El Niño. I hate it here.

Denver cyclone is pulling in warmer air and more moisture from the southeast. Boundary is roughly from the airport down I-225. That boundary could be a spot to watch for a landspout (short-lived tornado) or two this afternoon. #COwx

@abisonwx Yeah that's my exact thinking too. I'm willing to take risks don't get me wrong but I'd rather have better roads to escape if need be. But I will say, you got a tornado and learned from your mistakes? That's a win win regardless

Question for all the storm chasers out there, what was your biggest "Oh shit" moment on a chase?

@DiMartinoWX I do have a sense of regret, but I wouldn’t have been able to see it if I didn’t take that road. In the future, I think I’ll stick to paved/gravel roads to play it safe. No reason to put myself in danger if I’m doing it as a hobby

@abisonwx This is exactly why I try my best to avoid dirt roads. Not to say you did anything wrong btw

What are your daytime go to camera settings for capturing that perfect storm photo? Here’s mine: Manual mode Shutter 1/125s or faster Aperture f/10 to f/16 Base iso 64 with auto iso up to 1600 Matrix metering but will flip to highlight metering for difficult light conditions. Focus point 1/3 of the way to your stormy subject.
