Give customers a GitHub + Altium + Fusion 360 to factory pipeline. No friction, or less friction than WeChat.

Still bullish on the Rust Belt, but I will take the pacific beach over the shoreline of the Monongahela river any day (It’s also rarely rains).

Heck, people factory adjacent just simply move there to curate their next factory build.

With 88% certainty I can say the CCP deindustrialized with a false-information campaign in the rust belt in the 80s. “Only commies and hippies live in SoCal”. Meanwhile, SoCal was the only place where you can stumble into wildly qualified engineers, doing things as such:

First look at our automated assembly line. Engineered to produce one garment every 22 seconds, it operates 24 hours a day with a single operator. This unit will be demonstrated in North Carolina before installation at our Atlanta facility.

@GanleyMicheal @U_S_Steel The amount of commercial real estate development they were doing is astonishing. 64 story HQ in 1971 and then for fun, the HQ for the shipbuilder, Draco Corp, at 55 stories in 1984.

We tried at Formlogic. Multiple failure modes there, but culture was also an issue, and that’s coming from a born and raised Pittsburgher. The level of giving a shit in SoCal is on another level. Kingdom builders are replaced by machinists who vibe code SW products to keep the lights on.

@E_Bruxxx The original post had a couple tags but I rounded it out to the hashtag. Gotta make it better before it’s too late.

Robotics Capitals must have dense supply chains. Without it, you’re just another dev center loosing ground to those who iterate at speed. #pittsburgh
Y Combinator@ycombinator

Hardware Supply Chain @dessaigne In Shenzhen, a team can go from design to a new physical part in a day. In the US, that same loop often takes weeks, and that gap compounds. The overall stack for rapid hardware iteration still doesn't exist in America, and we want to fund the startups building it.

@CoreyOConnorPA @TaiwanInNewYork @NEXCOM_on_X Now, let’s build at scale. I’m talking full stack, rapid scale. How much R&D can I do when I’m waiting on PCBA’s from a vendor in CO or Asia? Where are my battery cells coming from? Let’s build to become the real Robotics Capital.

The future of robotics is in Pittsburgh! Had the pleasure of welcoming multiple Taiwanese robotics companies this morning at the Robotics Innovation Center and showed why our city is a hub for cutting-edge technology, talent & investment.

@zanehengsperger Torrance / Hawthorne. Live west of the PCH, pay nose bleed rent, but waking up to the surf and being in the factory 25min later is undeniably supreme.

14 years ago I was using “Renaissance” not “Reindustrialize”. It’s taken all of 14 years for it to start to blossom, but here we are. Finally cooking.

Grew up in Pittsburgh (steel collapsed) lived in Erie for 6 years (general heavy industry collapse) then headed to Greenville, SC for 7 (textile industry collapse). It’s a common theme across this great land. Just drive down the Ohio or Mon River and it’s town after town of former mfg wonder. We are all on the right mission, to build up the backbone. Keep building.

can’t even imagine how it must have been to live in the industrial age in the rust belt Erie PA alone was full of foundries, engine, locomotive and press manufacturers. today much of that has disappeared
