Hamas's unjustifiable brutality against Israeli civilians on October 7 cannot justify Israel's systematic war crimes and genocide against Palestinians in Gaza since then. Nothing justifies war crimes and genocide. haaretz.com/opinion/editor…

Why aren’t we talking about repealing the Comstock Act NOW before Congress gets worse? Cited in Project 2025 to go after abortion medication. A long shot but may be possible given state support for reproductive freedom. Defense starts now. #reproductiverights

Brilliant ad. If you have a daughter and you are voting for Trump you are insane. Also I hope you will one day have to explain to her why you voted for a man who was found to have sexually assaulted a woman.

@afalkhatib Solidarity and kudos to you! As a pro-peace human rights professor, I have experienced exactly this problem of mutual dehumanization. I am now writing a paper analyzing the breakdown of rights discourse, and would like to cite this post as an illustration.

How can one post generate so much hate and venom by both pro-Israel and pro-Palestine people? Why is it that the slightest of attempts to be levelheaded and unemotional in one’s commentary can make both sides of this horrible war and conflict lose what few brain cells they still have? While there’s clearly a disparity in the power dynamics between the Palestinians and Israelis, with one side having clear & overwhelming advantages and dominance, there are absolute similarities between them when it comes to mutual dehumanization. Right after October 7, many “pro-Palestine” people gleefully dismissed the humanity of Israeli victims and hostages and celebrated the massacre, enraging Israelis and the Jewish community. Then, as the IDF launched its war on Gaza, “pro-Israel” people gleefully celebrated the death of Gazans and the destruction of the coastal enclave and continue to dismiss the humanity of innocent Palestinian victims – including today after the horrendous atrocity in Rafah. To many, being pro-peace and coexistence somehow means complete surrender and submission to Israeli propaganda/Hasbara or narratives without the slightest of challenges and only wanting to hear anti-Hamas points of view. On the other hand, being pro-Palestine to some means that Hamas is above criticism, and one must never critique his own people during times of war because everything is solely and exclusively Israel’s fault, and the Palestinian political groups/leadership are blameless. One sentiment in one post that’s pro-the Palestinian people and civilians in Gaza, anti-Hamas, and anti-the Israeli war makes the unthinkable happen: uniting pro-Israel and pro-Palestine people in their anger and fury towards me. This is why “moderates” (I don’t like this word) on both sides, but especially on the Palestinian side, don’t speak out and remain silent. Dehumanization must give way to the recognition of our mutual humanity to have any hope for a shared future.
