Is it my accent?

@LanguageComeUp I’m a student but have taken the odd 45 minute class for conversation only and quite liked it, I definitely see it as an option from more teachers now than a few years ago. I stick to an hour for class though (rather than conversation)

I just added 30 and 45 minute classes to my italki schedule. I was just doing hour classes until now. Hope this gives me the possibility to have more work in the long run. Any teachers notice any trends in regard to this?

@OnlyQualityPpl @thelangbot Don’t be afraid to speak from day one, and check out the podcast notes in Spanish (there are different levels for beginner etc)

Recommendations for apps/sites that connect travellers and local tour guides ? Looking at Showaround but they want £50 per month!!! I’m looking to offer to be a guide for free to meet people and practice languages so don’t want to pay that much

@nfjmai @thelangbot For some people what works is putting most of your focus on one of the two languages and maintaining the other eg actively spend 80% of your study time on Italian and just maintain Spanish by listening to podcasts or going to conversation meet-ups.

@nfjmai @thelangbot Honestly I still get mixed up (almost always say imparo instead or aprendo but never remember the Italian for ‘to drive’). Don’t beat yourself up as it’s totally normal, the best thing to do is practice!

@nfjmai @thelangbot I do, although my Spanish is better than my Italian! Spanish about C1, Italian about B2

When your air B&B comes with home cooking! Hosts mother keeps making us breakfast. I managed to tell her she is a very good cook in Greek (I think…) she seemed happy so I can’t have been too far off!

Received very bad news about my mom. Her cancer count doubled and it’s extremely aggressive and has spread to her bones. The oncologist’s words were that she’d be surprised if my mom makes it until Christmas. I’m heartbroken…

@haleyp Box room in a high rise hotel or a huge private terrace for the same price….only reason I’m put off air B&B in future is the cultural impact/ housing market issues for locals. Never had a bad experience (only used in Europe) but I study reviews and don’t book one with 0 reviews

I have three tutors who I love on italki I can’t decide which one to stick with!! One just does conversational language the other two use a textbook and we do grammar etc as well. Is it unproductive to have different tutors ? Am I better to choose 1? #langtwt

@Klanguages123 @thelangbot It works well yeah, they are totally different skills to master so I think it’s fine to have different teachers. Community tutors are also cheaper - by doing it this way I can have lessons more frequently than I could if I was always paying teacher prices

@LinguistJosh Some universities (like Durham) are accredited centres for CILS, DELE, DELF etc. I did the DELE there and don’t go to the uni
