Gratifying to see St John’s Church filled today for the annual Accrington Pals memorial service.

The annual memorial service at St. John's Church, Accrington for the Accrington Pals will take place on Sunday 15th February (seated by 12.45pm for 1pm service). The service is again extended to the memory of all those from Accrington & District who served in the Great War.

Ive been able to acquire the Memorial Scroll for #Chorley Pal, Pte Pilkington. He died in 1917. The scroll now joins his medals already in my collection. Interestingly, I also have the Memorial Scroll of Pte Proctor, George's next door neighbour. #chorleypal #accringtonpals #WW1

After 8 years I have completed a full roll of honour of the 11,000 men of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers who died during or as a result of the Great War. Spread out over 27 volumes. All are available on Amazon.

Sorry to hear that well known #Lancashire historian, publisher and bookseller Bob Dobson is in Blackpool Victoria Hospital after suffering a stroke recently; thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. Bob ran Landy Publishing and was a regular at North-West Book Fairs.

Eccleston #Football Club nr. #Chorley #Lancashire, 1922-23. The footballer standing second right is #WW1 @ChorleyPals & @accringtonpals Arthur Bretherton who fought on the Somme in 1916. He also played for @Chorleyfc in 1913-14 before joining up. @InChorley
