@GraemePeacock1 I’ve heard the same of a local school where this is the case due to a single child from a Jehovah’s Witness family, they aren’t doing Christmas as a school but “winter wonderland” instead.

Chatting with a dog walker this morning & she was bemoaning the fact that Xmas carols are now being banned in local schools ‘cos they are deemed too ‘divisive’. Made me think. And so a genuine Q: if this trend continues will we end up outlawing the festive season altogether?

@dpeilow Don’t forget there were 2 new giga factories being built in the NE, BV and the new AESC plant next to Nissan (and their existing small one) BV going under is a huge shame, hoping the unique site gets picked up by someone with the resources to make this happen!

I'm not entirely convinced that - suprise to no-one - Britishvolt going into administration warrants top story on the 10 O'clock News, but you have to wonder what it might be that means the rest of Europe gets this many gigafactories and the UK is stuck with the ex-Nissan plant🤔

@tonyfarmery @AndyatAuto That also happens to have the North Sea DC interconnector next door bringing in renewable energy from Norway and a massive grid interconnection over the road. Getting that level of electrical power anywhere else is hugely expensive and time consuming.

The #BritishVolt liquidation is sad news for those made redundant today. It's also an unmitigated disaster to the British auto industry. The lack of Industrial Strategy or understanding of an industry which employs 800k people by successive governments is extraordinary.

The BV site is one of if not the best in Europe for a giga project so hopefully there will be interest in picking that up

@Graemewhitfield The site is probably the best in all of Europe Graeme, mainly because of the legacy energy infrastructure. There is sure to be interest to pick it up.

The question now is whether someone else can take over that site and make it work. That is important (a) because it could bring thousands of jobs to the North East and (b) domestic battery production is crucial to the UK car industry

@au_tom_otive Wow! That is amazing that no one was seriously hurt. I bet there were some new underpants needed though! Tyre safety on trucks so important. Daily checks combined with pressure and temp sensors can help to avoid exactly this sort of incident.

The thing that strikes me watching this is how good that Armco was at keeping the truck mostly on the right carriageway. Incredible that only minor injuries were sustained, too.

@RBReich Except he hasn’t lost that amount in cash has he, the value of his assets has dropped, it’s a paper loss. Tax is paid when the asset is sold and a gain is crystallised. Paying tax on long term held assets, means you would need to regularly sell to pay the tax, senseless
