Amid the flood of felicitations following my convocation as Overall Best Graduating Student of LAUTECH, I find it necessary to address the stir around my NELFUND appreciation post. I accept the praise, life changing offers and the backlash, in good faith. Still, it is only fair to set the record straight.
I hail from a village in Osun State, raised in a modest family of five. I attended public primary and secondary schools, not by choice, but because even the most inexpensive private schools were beyond our means.
Even then, survival itself; food and clothing was a daily struggle. I walked miles to school each morning, while my parents laboured as jacks-of-all-trades to make ends meet.
For nine defining years before I entered university, we lived within sight of basic amenities yet beyond our reach, no electricity, no television; just lanterns and candles. Against these odds, I earned a scholarship and now this distinction.
In my third year, a coursemate’s father, someone I had once tutored academically, gifted me my first smartphone which I am still using till now. On several occasions, lecturers, moved by quiet compassion, provided me with clothing. There are many other instances, too numerous to recount.
So, I say this plainly, not all of us are born with a silver spoon. Some of us climbed the ladder by holding on to every rung of legitimate support we could find.
As an engineering student aspiring to make academic history, should I resort myself to blaming my family’s financial situation for my inability to afford fees and essentials like a reliable smartphone or laptop needed for skills and certifications?
For me personally, NELFUND was not incidental; it was instrumental and to acknowledge what helped one’s journey is neither propaganda nor misplaced allegiance. It is simply an act of appreciation.
Thank you @NELFUND and everyone that contributed to this success!
Greatness awaits all of Us.

@arojinle1 I am somewhere right now and I remembered seeing many of these objects in a bottle and I can tell you that there is no juju except the beauty of art that has been with us for a long time. I will snap some and post once I get there later this evening.
God bless you Arojinle

My brother, all na trick. No one uses juju to call an item into a bottle. I repeat, no one calls objects into bottles using juju. For everyone they do, there's an explanation. I've burst many on my Facebook, IG and Tiktok. Here's house in a bottle made by an Arab. Did he come to Badagry to collect the juju? People build ships inside bottles. They're carefully arranged and built with skills. Normally, we should appreciate those skills but people have turned it into scam here. They tell people they called those objects inside the bottle and scam people of millions of naira.

@instablog9ja As much as I do love the care they showered to this bird, I believe the world will be a much better place if an iota of this love is shown to colored people 🤔🤔🤔

No billboard, no investment summit, no tourism campaign can compete with what people see with their own eyes the moment they land. A dirty airport road tells visitors wrongly that Lagos is chaotic, unserious, and careless with its environment.
The painful part is that this problem is AVOIDABLE.
Airport Road should be one of the most protected, most maintained corridors in the state. Illegal dumping should be impossible there. Waste management should be airtight. Monitoring should be constant.
If we want to be taken seriously on the global stage, then the basics must be respected.
You don’t welcome guests through a dirty front door.
The question is simple:
If we cannot keep the road that welcomes the world into Lagos clean, what message are we truly sending about who we are?
Keep Lagos State Clean

@EmirSirdam Nigerians don really love God Almighty except for the miracles... A true reflection of our devastating materialism lifestyle
English

Dear Religious Nigerians
What God cannot do does not exist.
But what God WILL NOT do surely exists!
God WILL NEVER fix Nigeria for us, he will not do what he has empowered us to do!
A country where the government that is made up of fewer than 1500 people is not scared of over 200 million people is hell.
90 Percent of our Prayer petitions as Nigerians lies in the hands of good governance.
Stop disturbing God and get involved in demanding good governance and accountability.
It is a shame that most of our Religious leaders today are a huge part of the problem; they are too scared to speak truth to power or to direct their sheep to partake in civic actions to demand good governance.
I guess we all know why!
Enough is Enough, if you are in Abuja come out this morning let us #OccupyNASS
