1/ ⚡ Starting 1 January 2025, Ukraine's gas transmission system operates without Russian gas transit. This historic end to Russian gas transit through Ukraine marks the close of an era of European energy dependence on Russia. Here's how we got here: 🧵

Seriously concerned over today’s vote in the Rada. The dismantling of key safeguards protecting NABU’s independence is a serious step back. Independent bodies like NABU & SAPO, are essential for 🇺🇦’s EU path. Rule of Law remains in the very center of EU accession negotiations.

Why aren't European air forces keeping Ukraine skies free from Russian missiles and drones?

I don’t know if many English-speaking people read my account, but it’s worth a try. After nights like this one, I feel the need to explain a little what it's like: living in Kyiv during a full-scale war 👇

This is less than half a mile from the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv. Last night, this apartment building was destroyed by a Russian missile.

Russian soldiers forcibly entered Vlad Rudenko’s home and abducted him when he was just 16. There was no note left for his mother, no phone call — just a bus full of Ukrainian children and a border stamp with no return date. Vlad, who was eventually brought back from Russia, shared his story with Christianity Today.

Russia hit Dnipro with ballistic missiles in broad daylight today. Odesa–Zaporizhzhia train badly damaged, passengers injured. While the world watches the Middle East, the frontline creeps closer to Ukraine’s major cities.

It is russia that started this war, exterminates Ukrainians every single day, rejects ceasefire offers, and continues bombing civilians in broad daylight-including on holy days. Caring about peace means putting more pressure on russia-the *only* reason this war still continues.

This week, I spoke with smart, well-educated foreigners. They expressed sympathy for Ukraine. But at the same time, they questioned whether Russia truly wages a war of annihilation against Ukraine and Ukrainians. “Why doesn’t Putin target trains with missiles?” they asked me. “But he doesn’t strike city centers,” they noted. “With Putin, it’s just a matter of ironing out the details of truce on energy and the sea,” they said with cautious optimism. Today, Russian ballistic missiles struck the center of the city of Sumy. As of now, 31 dead, including 2 children, and over 80 wounded, including 10 children. The world needs to understand this: if Putin is truly ready for peace, then he must stop bombing cities. Not energy facilities, not ships in the Black Sea, nor dwell on other gestures Stop bombing cities - that’s the only ceasefire worth working on. Until that happens, stop asking for more evidence or arguments to convince you that Putin came to kill us. Better just send a Patriot instead.

.@krymrealii reports that cleaning the Crimean coast from fuel oil (leaked from the destroyed russian tankers on Dec 15th) is problematic due to closure of the coastal zone by russian military. Occupants' military priorities prevail over environmental ones t.me/krymrealii/322…

11/ Let's remember that any gas purchases inadvertently finance Russia’s war efforts, & there should be an end to it, better sooner than later. Next steps for the EU: ending imports of RU gas through other routes that increased in 2024, such as LNG shipments & TurkStream2. /end

5/ In the early 2010s, with the aim of so-called ‘diversification’, other routes were planned, and in 2011, construction of the Nord Stream 2 began.
