I keep thinking about the comfort-to-atrophy pipeline. The skills that attract women, such as social boldness, leading, creating experiences, are use it or lose it. A man who hasn't approached a stranger in two years, who hasn't taken a real social risk, who hasn't led anything, is out of practice. He's also lost the identity that makes him interesting. He's become a spectator in his own life.

Insane begging on 100ft road, Indiranagar. It’s an organised syndicate. Mostly flower selling children who’ll hold on to your leg, different ID card people from random orgs asking for money to build wells in villages etc. They physically touch and stop you. What’s the solution?

@b50 Disagree, to be honest, the reason for Mumbai's support is its work ethics, opportunities and the people.

Historically, Mumbai has had more passionate supporters than Delhi. It takes you a while to see it but then you notice. Delhi doesn't need defending or being passionate about. Those who stay there just know it. It's home. Mumbai, meanwhile, needs defending and loving because honestly, other than sea and vada pav there's not much else. Kinda like those people who rave about Coastal Road but never dip the camera downward. Aerial shots only. Mumbai can be a home but it's always an accommodation first.

@thekaipullai Wild that we're celebrating a guy working four jobs from 6am to 9pm just to make ends meet as proof of opportunity rather than questioning why one city has a monopoly on basic economic survival.

It is sad that 70 years after independence, we have not created a real wealth creation city in India other than Mumbai. Like it or not, the opportunities that this city gives, to people who are nobodies, know nobody and even for someone who knows nothing, is unparalleled All it requires is hard work and if you may not succeed, you will survive I have a guy who washes my car everyday. He is 12th pass, maybe not even that He charges me 600 bucks a month. He washes about 30 cars in my society That nets him 18k a month Once his job is done by 10 am, he goes to a nearby bus booking centre where they need people to load and unload intercity tourist buses. There he earns 250 to 500 bucks a day. That nets him another 12500 bucks a month In addition he also brings passengers to buses and earns about 100 bucks per passenger That nets him another 10k a month He is done by 3 PM there. Goes home, eats lunch, takes a nap Then in the evening, if he feels like, he goes as a helper to a Pav Bhaji Place in my locality. They pay him 500 bucks and give him dinner too. That's another 10k In total, every month he earns 50k. And he can always increase it by taking other odd jobs. He stays in Dharavi, has put his children in an English Medium private school and told me he has built a house in his native village. For a twelfth pass guy it is an amazing achievement. And this was made possible by the tremendous earning potential that Mumbai gave him This kind of economic opportunity is not available anywhere else in India. No other city comes remotely close to this. That's why people flock to Mumbai. They know if they work hard, they will at least survive.

@ChitrakShivalik Location Location Location - 3 golden words for real estate. Mumbai commands that price by the virtue of its location and opportunities.

An 800 sq ft flat in Mumbai costs ₹2Cr. The same ₹2Cr in Ahmedabad buys a 2,200 sq ft home with a garden, two parking spots, and a community around it. One of these is called a good investment. One is called a compromise.

Was looking at the fee structure of Shiv Nadar school in Noida. No way a person who doesn't earn by illegal means can admit his/her child here. Admission fees: ₹2.1 lakhs Caution money: ₹75k Foundations year: ₹1.11 lakh quarterly Why can't we have one country one school fees?
