@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson Please explain what is wrong ?
Mensa cut off is 130 IQ = 98th percentile -
These are facts
English

I disagree. As someone who has been on admission committees we may see 100 applicants that look the same. Roughly the same scores, roughly the same background. How do we tell? Interviews, all ok, one can be coached for those. When we have someone with a different background, a different take we pay attention. We like diversity in medical school. The last thing we want in med school are people whose only redeeming feature is they can be stuck in a room and memorize data and test well. So yes, if we see someone with a different background it will peak our interest. That is not reverse discrimination, it is the modern version of someone who folds their resume in a different manner so it stands out from the pile
Jon Bignault @BignaultJon
@drterrysimpson Meh this is a cope. While some of the points you make have merit when judging an individual, if the subjective evaluations are fair they should even out when applied to more than a few dozen people . But they don’t. There is a clear pattern of discrimination by race.
English

@policywishes What a horrible Buckeye. Please tell me your grade in organic chemistry and your grade on the MCAT?
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson 98th percentile = 130 IQ = Mensa level ;
AND yes, nobody below Mensa level deserves to be an MD
English

@Gopalak78325085 @drterrysimpson Given that everyone with lower then 98 percentile is lower IQ. Given that lower IQ are bad doctors.
That means the majority of doctors in America are bad.
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson Lower IQ by definition is a bad doctor ;
Perhaps they should try instead for RNP, PA, etc
English

@Gopalak78325085 @drterrysimpson Does that make them a bad doctor? Should we fire every doctor because they scored. Lower then 98 percentile because they are low IQ?
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson Anything below 98th percentile on MCAT = Lower IQ
English

@Gopalak78325085 @drterrysimpson Okay what is the IQ score or MCAT score that makes you a bad doctor?
English

@Gopalak78325085 @drterrysimpson Where is your statistics that students with a 95% make bad doctors?
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson ANY MCAT score that is NOT in the 98th percentile
English

@Gopalak78325085 @drterrysimpson So please show where MCAT and GPA correlate being better doctors?
What MCAT score makes you a bad doctor?
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson IQ is the ONLY thing that matters for STEM and law ;
MCAT measures IQ;
Indians and Chinese have no problem with MCAT or SAT, and outscore whites ;
So issue is NOT white racism ;
I can go further into why the gap persists
English

@policywishes Where is the data that shows a 512 MCAT score makes you a better doctor than 507 MCAT score?
English

You can't romanticize "grit" while downplaying what actually matters most in training physicians: cognitive ability & knowledge needed to practice safe medicine. A 5-point MCAT gap isn't trivial...507 sits around the 71st percentile, while 512 is 84th. Grit is no substitute.
Dr. Christian Casteel@DrCasteelEM
If you can’t understand how an applicant with a 507 MCAT who came from poverty, first to go to college, working while in school, and has no financial help is much more impressive and implies far better work ethic and perseverance than someone with a 512, rich parents, MCAT prep course, and never had a job…you’re a fucking dumbass.
English

@Gopalak78325085 @drterrysimpson Why is that your metric for being a good doctor?
Do you believe that is what the MCAT measure?
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson So why are Indians and Chinese outcompeting whites in MCAT scores ?
English

@CFBPp11 @AndrewLeezus I'm not hating on your choice. I just think 1st round pics are more of a gamble then people realize.
English

@adamchaz2000 @AndrewLeezus I can promise you Im not drafting 3 centers, in the next 5 years, have to make the arguement somewhat realistic.
English

@CFBPp11 @AndrewLeezus That's the thing you got to pick the best with perfect information.
With imperfect information I'm taking LeBron and let God sort out the rest.
English

@adamchaz2000 @AndrewLeezus I mean thats the question 5 #1 overall picks, I get to pick whoever. Rose had a tough career but 6-7 really solid years with an ROY and MVP in there, that with two hall of famers is tough. That with Marv who was a solid 14 year role guy, I love that if we can hide Bargnani on D
English

@BradeauxNBA Can we bet on this? How many year? Can we do an over or under.
Let's say 5. So within the next 5 years if either the SAS or OKC aren't in the WCF you win.
I will take that bet.
English

@Britannia_Royal @acnewsitics Can I get a year and a census of London
English

@acnewsitics London dominated global finance when it was 100% white. So that’s not fecking true
English

@CFBPp11 @AndrewLeezus You changed the game. But even considering it. Marv and bargnaini doesn't matter to much. As great as rose is he gets injured. So I'm taking LeBron over Dwight and Durant. I would take that bet.
However the question is 5 first rounders where you don't know who is next
English

@adamchaz2000 @AndrewLeezus I mean you get HOF Dwight.
Then your not going another C in Bogut. For arguement sake lets say #2 Marv Williams and not Dwill or CP3. Then Bargnani next. Not taking 2nd C in Oden leaves #2 Durant, then D Rose.
100% dwight, marv, bargnani, durant, rose over LBJ.
English

@BlackLeftLeft @drterrysimpson You don't respect yourself. Take care.
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson I don't respect you. Take care.
English

@BlackLeftLeft @drterrysimpson Did I hurt your feelings because I didn't let you hide behind being black?
So sorry Uncle Ruckus.
You had the choice of not revealing you were black but you tried to hide behind it.
Just like you are trying to hide behind "ad hominem" attacks.
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson I don't respect you. You insulted me and resorted to ad hominems immediately, and not even a clever one at that. Again, take care. We're done.
English

@BlackLeftLeft @drterrysimpson You can't back up your claim that about the effectiveness of doctor based on GPA and MCAT . Surely you have some date about the difference between 3.88 and 507 vs 3.98 and 512.
Because data is so important you should be able to show how the later is better than the former.
English

@adamchaz2000 @drterrysimpson Ad hominems were expected. Take care.
