@fwmann1e Definitely you’re missing the scale of tectonic suppression. If Roku leaves, that eruption isn't just local, but it’s a global climate event. He wasn't saving a village; he was stabilizing the planet’s mantle. He didn't choose to die, rather he chose the world over his life.

This is why I say Iroh as Firelord would’ve been an absolute nightmare for Gaang because he’s a competent military strategist

@fwmann1e Ozai’s plan was a logistics nightmare fueled by pure ego. He wasn’t a master strategist; he was a guy with an inferiority complex and a celestial cheat code. Without that comet, the Fire Nation couldn't even hold a single city properly. It was high-budget LARPing.

@adas4sure @Ataijesa @BIG_TRAKAS No it is not. Raava was the battery along with storing the information of other avatars of the past. Roku never stated that the past lives multiplied over the many avatars. She lost because fighting Vaatu first was tiring and left her vulnerable.

Everyone keeps blaming Korra for losing the Avatar past lives but that ignores the bigger picture.
Even Raava couldn’t defeat Vaatu alone, she needed to fuse with Avatar Wan just to gain an upper hand. Over 10,000 years of maintaining balance, the Avatar cycle gradually became more about keeping stability than direct confrontation with cosmic level threat, and both Raava and the Avatar lineage arguably adapted into something less war-ready and controlled.
Even the White lotus stepped in as a guiding authority but they weren’t present at the original chaos of Raava and Vaatu’s conflict. Overtime they became gatekeepers of what a “proper Avatar training” looked like, potentially limiting how the future Avatars developed.
In the end, during the final confrontation, Unalaq enhanced by Vaatu wasn’t just fighting an Avatar with four elements, but a weakened spiritual system that has been refined for balance, not survival against a primal force like darkness itself.
So maybe the issue isn’t just Korra. Maybe Raava herself, and the entire Avatar system, has become less equipped for that kind of cosmic level conflict over time.

@Teslimatttt You’re underestimating Sage. If you think she didn’t account for Butcher’s "Kessler" evolution, you’re playing checkers. Neuman was a pawn whose usefulness expired. Sage didn’t just realize it, rather she likely cleared the room to let the monster out of the cage.
